Prayer I (Accidental Video)

Dec 14, 2009 23:52

[The video suddenly turned on. All that can be seen is darkness.]

AHHHHH!

[There is the cry of what sounds like a boy in distress. Shortly followed there is a crash, and the sense of movement. There is the sound of rustling and falling. The communicator is now on its side, yet still doesn't show much. If one were to look very closely they would ( Read more... )

I... Am Iscariot! I am the face, the head of God's Earthly Agents of Divine Punishment! I will feel no terror, nor fear, for He is with me as a light to my footpath!

AMEN!

[Maxwell had fortified himself with a prayer of deliverance as he dashed out the doorways of the church, his black cassock flagging behind him and his heavy cross jingling with every stride. He couldn't remember the last time he had made such a mad dash into the darkness, blind, with only his vague memory of this city's outline fresh in his mind. Rushing past alleyways and several forks in the road, he skid to a halt at the sound of a childish yelp.

Blessed steel clicked as he cocked his weapon, fierceness of a viper in his Icelandic green eyes, fueled purely by adrenaline and perhaps desperation that he might find another and not be considered alone in this Godless land.]

Salvē?

[He called into the darkness of the empty building, inching towards it's open threshold.]

Salvē, Alassandro...?

[Giovanni's hand closed over his gently and gave a small tug in order to help the young pope to his feet.]

Sorry, I did not mean to startle you. Venire. Come. Let's--

[He stopped mid-sentence and cocked his head to the side, listening to the approach of someone else into the building. The words, the name, made it obvious it was not, at least, a monster. Hopefully.

He made sure the boy was steady on his feet before letting go of his hand and spinning around to face the darkness. He kept quiet as he waited but one hand fingered a silver dagger at his waist.]

[After Alessandro was on his feet he shuffled so he was mostly behind Giovanni. The others reaction made him nervous, but, that was his name. And it sounded like the Archbishop he had been speaking to.]

I think that's....

I-I'm h-here.

[His voice was not very loud, though he had attempted to be loud enough to be heard.]

Aless.. dov'è...

[Creeping into the dark, his weapon glinting low in what little light there was to give, the chief perked at the small voice and turned to see a silhouetted figure standing next to a much smaller one.

Instinct drove him to raise the silver barrel tightly with years of homed precision on the man.]

You there! Friend of foe?

[As if it really mattered. The majority of this city was going to Hell, be him to send them there directly or not.]

[Giovanni did not flinch as the weapon was brought to bear on him. In truth he could only guess at its nature, but still he looked fierce enough in his own right with his face set into a grimly determined line.]

Amico, per il piccolo. Sei un'altra cosa se si prova ill. [Friend, to the little one. You are another matter if you prove ill.]

[Why were weapons being brandished? It made him feel nervous, and scared. He started to shake a bit watching them both carefully. Fighting wouldn't do any good... he hoped they wouldn't.]

P-p-please don't f-f-fight....

[Lowering the weapon slightly, he peered at the small being who trembled and asked for peace. If this wasn't a heathen, he'd gladly back down.]

Sono un Agente di Dio. Io sono di nessun danno per i giusti. [I am a Servant of God. I am of no harm to the righteous.]

[Giovanni hesitated, but soon enough his hand made its way away from the blade and he settled into a semi-relaxed position much like a soldier's parade rest.

As for the religious aspect...] Molti dei servi di Dio danno degli innocenti in nome della pace, ma non vedo nulla di male a dire a questo bambino. [Many of God's servants harm the innocent in the name of peace; but I see you mean no harm to this child.] [He gives a small pause] E 'bello sentire la lingua italiana. [It is good to hear the Italian language.]

[If he were a stronger person, he might have interjected something then, perhaps speaking of Gods kindness, or some other thing, but he wasn't a strong person. Instead he just watched them both and hoped he would get to see his sister soon. It was a lot for him to go from being a hostage in Brno to finding himself in a strange city with monsters almost scarier than vampires.]

[A slender blond brow twitched at that retort. Yes, he had harmed what Satan's world may call 'innocents' in the name of his Lord. Genocide they had called it. Yet that was no knowledge to ever pass through his viperous lips here.]

E 'contro la mia credo fare del male i figli di Dio mio. [It is against my creed to harm children of my God.]

[Dropping the blessed weapon completely, he let a patient smile dance across his pallid face.]

E 'stato un po', il mio vicino. [It has been a while, my neighbor.]

[Pausing he noted the child's innate fear and smoothed a hand over his blond head with a sigh.]

Sono qui per prendere il piccolo a sua sorella, il Cardinale. [I am here to take the little one to his sister, the Cardinal.]

[Giovanni had to raise a brow at that--a female Cardinal?--but he made a polite half-bow in response to the valiant enough sounding intention of the man on the boy's behalf.]

Un gesto leale. Io vi accompagnerà, se piace così. [A fair deed. I will accompany you, if it so pleases.]

[There was tension, he wasn't so foolish not to be able to see that, but, there was little he could do about it. He really could only hope it would be alright and to stay quiet. Oddly enough the behavior of the Archbishop didn't bother him much, it was rather familiar in fact. Only, maybe not quite as ruthless as the inquisition could be.

As they talked he bent over to grab the few things he had arrived with, mostly the tipple tiara that had fallen to the floor when he had ended up in this room.]

[Enrico Maxwell was closer to the Inquisition than the boy thought, no, this man was the Inquisition of his time. The vicious organization that carried out the Vatican's most depraved works, ones he saw he would be blessed for in the end, even with Christ's blood staining his hands. Approaching with a regal grace in his caution, he sought to get a better look at the child he had ran headfirst into this valley of in the shadow of death for.

Wouldn't Anderson have a conniption that he had gone such a thing, he was almost humbled and blanching at the same time at the thought. Yet impulse in his desperation had driven him like His mysterious ways, and now that he was here, he would follow through. After all, this was that blasted woman's sibling, it would do him well to be shown favor by his... future superiors.]

Sì, che sarebbero accettabili. [Yes, that would be acceptable.] [He needed all the protection he could get in this place. Another set of eyes would do the lot of them well ( ... )

[Giovanni held a reply in check as the sudden movement from the corner of his vision caught his attention at the same time the other broke off abruptly. His hand was at his waist on the hilt of his sword in an instant. But the Archbishop was quick as well and had less motions to go through, and the noise the weapon made startled the Assassin more than the unusual creature itself; and he paused to see the outcome as much as to regain his senses.

His eyes flickered to the strange--and loud--weapon and back again to the intruder. He was ready to react next if his stance was anything to go by.]

[[Sorry, Giovanni is too busy wondering what the HELL is that weapon to help out. Not that he wouldn't defend himself or the others if it were to attack.]]

AH!!

[Alessandro cried out, it was that creature again. The thing that had been above when he first woke up. This time though, his body reacted typically, and he fainted immediately. The boy went limp and crumpled to the ground in fright.]

[The four-legged beast toppled out of the darkness, staggering on spindly legs and hissing in a mad-fit from where a considerably sized hole had been blasted into it, smoldering a vile stench. Enrico's heart leapt that that thing hadn't died, and then dropped dead into the pit of his despicable bowels as the child toppled as well in fright.]

Non solo lì, afferrarlo e vai! [Don't just stand there, grab him and go!]

[All that he had built himself up to be as a leader of the most fearsome organization under the church's reign instilled solidly in his wretched soul. As if he had been brought back to that moment when he had proved to his superiors that his men and women would be the silent cornerstone of His Holy Temple, starting with his own prowess in the field of divine execution.]

In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti.. Discedere ad Inferos![In a flash of blessed steel, the Archbishop cast his qualms to the Lord he had forsaken in Midian, and slashed a silver bayonet from his cassock, cleaving it into one of the legs of the ( ... )
