It depends on how virulent the cold is, how well you take care of yourself, and a certain quantity of luck. Therefore, it is impossible to state exactly how long it will last.

Wh-what are good ways of sh-shortening the time of a c-cold?

Adequate rest and eating healthily. The latter may be difficult in a place such as this, so I would recommend getting enough sleep.
