TITAN CON BELFAST: 23/9-25/9 2011
You may or may not know that a few of us went to the first ever Game of Thrones themed convention held in Belfast last weekend! I, along with lcacbc and roboticduck went to fly the ontd_asoiaf sparkly, sassy banner high. (with assist from lanyon & littleshebear on the Saturday and the non-_asoiaf abydosww falamoyacrava and her bf)
PART THE FIRST: CON WARMUP, NECKBEARDS AND NERD-BADGES
ON THE FRIDAY NIGHT we went to get our con badges and were immediately surrounded by neckbeards. If I had stayed to listen I'm sure we would have heard so many things to make us facepalm. So we went to get tapas and cocktails. there is little to report from Friday night other than general FUN and some interesting grafitti in the centre of Belfast

PART THE SECOND: A CONVENTION, WATER DANCING AND DRUNK DANCING
The saturday was AWESOME. Our sisterhood (with one brother) went to all the Game of Thrones events during the day, causing some disgruntled comments from neckbeards because WE ARE FANGIRLS. Firstly there was a Season One in review panel, where the moderator kept calling Arya the "popular" character and was pretty damn rude about Sansa. smh. Highlights included Art (Rickon) saying he'd like to play Theon (hisses heard in the audience! couldn't believe it!) and Kristian (Hodor) talking about Hodor's Hodor - a topic which came up a few too many times considering the amount of children there. Winter is coming dot net (who never put their fucking camera down all weekend, hah) has posted a nice recording of this panel so I'll save you all scrolling through endless embedded videos AND GET TO THE PICS.
THEY CALLED IT WINTERFELL so precious.

SO MUCH CUTE
Kristian said that he's become great friends with Isaac (Bran) and Art (Rickon) alike which was pretty much the most adorable thing to hear. the girls bantered like pros, Maisie (Arya) was a bit of a question-hog though. Miltos was charming and hilarious when people asked him about his role in season two.
We then had photos taken and a Water Dancing workshop with Miltos!
halfway through (after fighting with that Joe dude who wants to be on the show) the girls appeared and Maisie got up on stage to strut her stuff, quickly showing people twice her size how to water dance.
Can we all just agree that she's ROCKING the short hair? yes? okay.
After the performance there was a group photo taken, and ontd_asoiaf is repping in the front.
Parris (GRRM's wife) had sent some little gifts for Sophie and Maisie so they were presented on stage: a westeros coin for Sophie and an iron coin for Maisie. Both girls freaked out and there were kisses and hugs between Maisie and Miltos. D'AWW.
Panel two was a book-to-screen panel, which was fun. I'll edit this when video appears ;) Panel three, the Season Two one has been posted on mothership and THAT WAS THE PANEL I ASKED A QUESTION IN. and for once, Sophie answered first instead of Maisie.
In all honesty the best info we got was that there will be NON-BOOK PLOT ELEMENTS in Arya's season 2 arc (!) and that Richard Madden apparently paraded around with Hodor's hodor on over his own costume on set. People rushed to cover bb Art's ears at that.
THEN THERE WAS A SIGNING SESSION

AND THEN I TOLD HIM I THOUGHT RICKON WOULD BE KING. He said he doesn't know because he hasn't read the books - so I clarified that in ten years we'd like Rickon for King. he thought that was ace, and consequently did this:

Lots of stuff was signed, some people from a certain site gave the kids bottles of mead (because it's totally appropriate, right? l-o-l) and then we shoved off and managed to miss the masquerade. IN WHICH, TWO OTHER ontd_asoiaf members appear!
That night there was alcohol (mostly consumed by yours truly) and dancing with the Star(k)s. But not after this.

PART THE THIRD: ONTD_ASOIAF HITS WINTERFELL
On the Sunday there was a tour of the filming locations in the area from s1. the first part of the day was pretty much just "here is a tree that was in the direwolves scene" while we were getting rained on.
Miltos, who was on our coach and has pretty much converted us into being stans 4 lyfe because he's hilarious, was taking more photos than anyone else and sneaked into that one!

we then visited the King in the North setting where two of us decided to stay on the bus because we were soaked.

We then went to Winterfell! the location for s1, Castle Ward, is not being used for s2 (probably because you can't *spoiler spoiler* a listed building)
WE STOOD AT THE GATES OF WINTERFELL.
Then there was a feast where I dutifully had all the wine and then stole a final bottle to take back to the hotel that abydosww was staying at for our last hurrah. Where she and lcacbc recreated this wonderfull Finn/Gethin moment:
