Reading and rereading was all he seemed to do in his bedroom when he wasn't sleeping or dreaming, and truly he wasn't really sleeping as the dreams were the ones taking over his sleep, which meant that he would only wake up to read or reread a book in his stash of books. He always found himself returning to the works of Rainis, who he never personally knew but sorely wish that he had. His poetry resonated in him more than any of the other books, which were mostly stories he had read before. The poems of Rainis were newer to him, as he had only read some of his works after gaining independence, but he was always dazzled by them ( ... )

Hungary felt almost all her resolve crumble when she saw his smile...he was trying hard to to bare this place and here she felt she was leaving him all alone to face it. He had faced more alone then she could imagine though...so perhaps he would be alright ( ... )

She was leaving? His smile faltered a little, listening to her words, a part of him kind of happy that she was going to be away from Russia, but another part jealous and saddened by this fact. She was kind to him, like everyone seemed to be, no matter how much he didn't deserve it, and losing a kind person is always a bit sad. He gave a small nod, looking up at her attentively as she spoke, his stomach sinking a little. Latvia needed to think positively. She was offering him an escape if anything bad happened. She was turning herself into a sanctuary for him, a place where he could be safe and at home.

Tears stung his eyes, but he tried to be brave. He smiled a bit more genuinely, "That's not too far away... I-I think I'll take up your offer, if it comes to that." He knew it would come to that, though. Even with Russia being under constant surveillance by the staff here, that didn't necessarily mean that that crazed country would stop being who and what he was: a crazed country. He doubted spending time in an insane asylum ( ... )

"I'd love to do that...I've tried speaking to Huan about having you moved as well, but he says measures are already being taken to protect you. I don't know if he would reconsider ( ... )
