At parties I often watch people playing drinking games and wonder if they're just compensating for a more real desire. Are drinking games just a way to make ''playing'' socially acceptable? Perhaps some of us want to play tag and hide-n-go-seek and jailbreak, but think posing this idea would be considered absurd or uncool. Adding something inhuman ( Read more... )

while i don't belive that drinking is always an escape, i do believe drinking games are (more often than not.) i think drinking games are a way to make binge drinking acceptable in public; a way to go from town drunk to life of the party. i don't think it's people trying to recapture their lost your and still seem sophisticated, i think it's more "i'm going down and taking you with me for the company"

everyone knows the REAL sophisticants who still like to be silly play crisco twister ;-)

you know, i've been thinking a LOT lately about playing. i've decided to make a conscious effort to retain and preserve my inner child. okay, so story time:

i was in my kitchen with my housemate and two of our friends at 2 or so in the morning where we allways end up to smoke whatever we might have left and to be retards. one of the guys hanging out with us, John, I've only met a few times. Caitlin, my housemate, bought a bb gun for halloween (we were prostitute assassins) and it was on the table. Now, John was holding it and waving it around and pretending to shoot it as he talked. He said "Okay. Let's play a game. Whoever is holding the gun, has to shoot someone. but we have to guess, and whoever is right, wins." So, i've been thinking for so long that i miss made-up games, make believe and romping around out doors.

this is where it gets sad: I waited. I sat and wondered what Caitlin and Graham would say. I was all about it; I love games, but I felt silly being all about it. so we didn't play, and I was dissapointed.
