Once during the credits of a film I can't recall I heard a jazz number about Christopher Columbus, and since I had big dreams about being a dingy, back bar lounge singer. I still use my "I've been up since 4 am smoking Newports and brooding" voice with my shampoo bottle in the shower. I guess it's a good thing I live alone ( Read more... )

several points:

i can still sing along with most tracks on the Bobby McFerrin tape that had "Don't Worry, Be Happy" on it.

i have recently taught myself to throat sing in the mongolian/tibetan style. (this doesn't really have much to do with your post, but i'm exceptionally pleased with myself for it, so i'm sharing)

you are without a doubt one of the least stupid, most excellent individuals i know.

we should start a band and take over the world. (or at least one or two small clubs)

i forgot to comment on this when i first read it, but i also found this really entertaining in some way. and i'm also a big bobby mcferrin fan. he's a really brilliant musician and a pretty funny guy.
i went to see him live a while back and a lot of the concert was improvised jazzy vocal stuff. when he asked the audience for requests, everyone shouted "DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY!!!", and he just smiled and said, "i'm not worried, i'm happy!" and didn't perform it the whole time. fuck yeah.

my parents took me to a show of his where he also accepted requests, and someone yelled ''SING A SONG ABOUT SQUIRRELS!'' what hollowed was one of my all-time favorite concert moments, and a pretty great little ditty squirrels.
