She blamed Draco. If he hadn’t become infatuated with the little redheaded twit, then none of this would have happened. If he hadn’t thought of excuse after excuse to be with her, then she wouldn’t be in this mess. If he hadn’t been the first of them to defy their parents’ rules and fall for, not only a Gryffindor, but a Weasley, things would still be normal. But he had, and he did. He fell in love, and by Merlin if the little cow didn’t love him back… so she couldn’t really blame him for that.
She blamed Blaise. If he hadn’t made it seem ok, she would never have considered doing this. If he hadn’t fallen for those damned green eyes then maybe she could have resisted. If he had remembered that he was a Slytherin, and was not to fraternize with Gryffindors, especially that Gryffindor. But he did, and he hadn’t. He threw out all his rules and started dating the sodding Boy-Who-Lived, and damned if he wasn’t happy… so she couldn’t really blame him for that.
She blamed Granger. If her laughter hadn’t been so infectious, she never would have laughed with her. If her smile hadn’t been so warm, her heart wouldn’t have started to pound. If her hand hadn’t felt so wonderfully good, she never would have craved her touch. But Hermione didn’t choose her; she didn’t set out to win Pansy’s heart. She couldn’t really blame her for that. She could blame herself; for searching for her late at night, for insisting on walking the Gryffindor back to her dorm, for falling more and more for her everyday and not doing a damn thing to stop it. She could blame herself for that.
Pansy slowly turned over, wrapping her arm around a slim waist, buried her head in bushy locks, breathing in the scent of jasmine, musty books, and Hermione and smiled, slowly shaking the young girl awake. Yes, it was all her fault and she felt she deserved a reward.
