Title: Contangious
Fandom: Wizards of Waverly Place
Warning: Some scenes of mild sensuality
Disclaimer: I own nothing
Pairing: Justin/Alex
Summary: He had to be contagious, that was the only explanation for it. Based on the episode “Movies.”

It had only been a theory, a simple spur of the moment guess that she didn't really believe. Three weeks later she was convinced she was right. (What else could it be?) She didn't know what happened to her, but she was fairly sure she was passing three of her classes and just barely failing one. It's not that she minded (she did want to graduate after all), but what if she caught something else? What if she woke up one morning with a love of alien languages or suddenly started watching the weather with the same feverish intensity Justin did?

Sitting in the living room, not doing her homework, despite threats of groundings from her parents, Alex was focusing on more important matters; doodling a cat wearing a fedora in the margin of one of her text books (maybe Geometry, but there seemed to be an awful lot of words for math). She hardly registers her brother sitting not three feet away from her (really, it's not like she can feel his presence like some kind of alarm going off inside her head every time he's near), but her eyes catch sight of one hand, centering her attention on the way he holds his pencil, poised and exactly like they were taught in school so many years ago. There's a insult ready on her tongue about the way he has to be perfect in everything but the tendons in his wrist flex as he grips the pencil tighter and beings to write: ("World War II was a global military conflict which involved a majority of the world's nations, including all of the great powers, organized into two opposing military alliances: the Allies and the Axis.") and she finds the words captured behind her lips and swallowed down before she can catch her breath she's suddenly lost.
He's so focused, so devoted to this one thing, all his energy directed on that simple piece of paper and the words it holds; her mouth turns dry as she wonders absently if he's like this in all things he does (she cuts off that train of thought as her heart beat picks up. Maybe she's coming down with something). He pauses, the fingers of his left hand going out to caress the text book page and she's struck by how gentle he's being, like the inky black text is delicate, precious and something unidentifiable settles in the pit of her stomach (she's probably got the swine flu, that'd be just her luck). His eyebrows come together in concentration and one lip becomes a prisoner between his teeth as he directs all his energy into those few printed words. She squirms slightly with the sudden onset of unknown emotions (longing, want, need). After what seems like hours (for all she knows it could have been days) and nearly a page of written essay ("In a state of 'total war,' the major participants placed their entire economic, industrial, and scientific capabilities at the service of the war effort, erasing the distinction between civilian and military resources.") Justin's eyes cut upward, seeming to finally sense his sister's gaze. She feels her face heat up (it has to be a fever) and her dark eyes drop immediately to her still unfinished doodle before slamming her book shut and heading upstairs; her thoughts jumbled and her hands shaking as she tries to distinguish the picture forming in her mind: those long fingers touching trembling skin with the same delicate focus, and dark eyes burning with the intensity he seemed to reserve for text books and homework (the fever's made her delusional because the blurry subject of such attention holds similar characteristics to own.)

She doesn't understand how one week later she gets a 76 percent on her history test. She didn't study at all.

This one is fairly old. I still really like it, but I think it could have been better. Oh well.
