Doodled in class- I'm guessing that Danny was born in 1979, and Nicholas four years earlier, because A. the Muppet Movie came out in 1979, and B. Nicholas must have been fairly young when he watched it to want to be Kermit the Frog.
According to my personal fanon, Nicholas never knew his dad; he ditched Amy Angel (what my brain decided on for his mother) when he found out she was pregnant, and thus Nicholas was left with Uncle Derek as his role model and father figure- and who probably ended up babysitting Nicholas a lot while his mom worked to support the two of them. Nicholas has always thought that a person who would ditch someone as capable and awesome a person as his mother not worth knowing, and so has never sought him out. Even to punch him in the face.
Personally, I like how seven-year-old Nicholas is both suspicious, confrontational, and shy. He's hiding behind his mum. Probably just after he found out that Uncle Derek was a Bad Man, or, more recently, a Cunt.
