We had all sorts of problems with our dryer at Interlude before we realized the exhaust pipe had several turns in it. Every angled turn makes backpressure on the exhaust, and lowers the efficiency a heck of a lot.
Check your exhaust... make it as straight as possible (and also make sure it's clean and open on the vent)
That's been the problem every time I've seen a dryer take 1.5 to 2 cycles to get anything dry. Sometimes below the lint filter, sometimes where the vent enters the wall, sometimes at a kink in the vent, sometimes where the vent exits outside -- but always somewhere in the exhaust piping.
