I'd bet that LJ's birthday alert is synched with Greenwich Mean Time, and by the time you posted that sweet birthday wish, it was certainly already my birthday in Greenwich, though not yet in New York where you were, Ohio where I was born, or Washington where I am now. A birthday is such a theoretical concept anyway.
