Japanese Curry?

Jun 25, 2007 21:19

So I was introduced to the wonders of Japanese curry the other day up in Little Tokyo in Los Angeles, and I'm wondering if there are any good curry shops in San Diego that specialize in Japanese curry. A good Katsu curry recommendation would be especially appreciated :)

Thank you :)

I like the katsu at the food stand inside Mitsuwa (off 163 Balboa exit, next to Staples).

I've never been, but The Curry House on Convoy specializes in Japanese curry:

Thirded on Curry House :) I often get either chicken katsu or hamburger curry.

Is the hamburger curry good? I saw it on the menu of the place we went to, but I ordered the beef curry and it was good. It wasn't hot (spicy) like I expected, so I had to dump a ton of chili oil on it, but the hamburger one looked pretty yum also. My friend had the chicken katsu curry and now I'm hooked.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll check it out tomorrow :)

I believe you can specify how spicy you want it :) Usually when I get the hamburger curry, the patty's pretty thick. It fills me up fast, too!

You can also check out the menu over here: http://www.house-foods.com/curry_house.html (there's a bunch of Curry Houses dispersed around So Cal, mostly Orange County on up)

Hope your experience over there goes well! :D
