I just moved here from San Jose, and I would love some good burrito place recommendations. I went to Santana's on a whim, and it was not good. I live very near downtown, in Sherman Heights. Thanks so much for the help ( Read more... )

Pokez make a good one.. I'm at the office right now, but I have a list of places to eat and post that over later.
Pokez
947 E St
San Diego, CA 92101(619) 702-7160

OH and and I strongly suggest that you try Carnita's in Lemon Grove
8035 Broadway
Lemon Grove, CA 91945
(619) 462-0704

It's a hole in the wall place but they are awesome.. and for Menudo, There's a small place right on the corner (I don't know the name of the restaurant)BUT it's ONE down from Aztec Printing (National City)
the address:

710 E 3RD Street
National City,CA 91950

You can not miss it!!The place is right on the corner. They also sell menudo by the pot!

san diego has some of the best burritos! i miss them dearly :( i'm sorry your experience was less than stellar, but i'm not a fan of santana's myself. check out lolitas or super sergios, both a little bit south in the national city area.

Everyone loves Las Cuatros Milpas down by where you live. I don't know if they have burritos or not though.

I like Ray's in North Park, Taco Fiesta on Mission Gorge, and My Guadalajara in Del Cerro.

I've noticed that tacos are the thing here. It seems the standard burrito around here is small, and is made up only of meat, guac and salsa. The style I'm used to is the size of a small infant. :-) Thanks for the suggestions!

The closest thing you're going to get to a NorCal burrito around here is probably Chipotle. Pretty much everything you'll find in SD will be a more authentic Mexican-style burrito. Maybe order a sort of "everything" or deluxe burrito at one of the Mexican places? I personally would NOT recommend Pokez, as their service is pretty awful. Rancho's Cocina (I think it's on 30th) is good. Maybe something in Old Town would have a burrito with a ton of stuff in it?
