I actually finished reading Death note! Mini review, so spoiler alert. Yes, you've been warned.
Actually, it's one of the first few times that I managed to complete a manga that I almost don't really have interest in...?
Sure, death note is fun, but it's too wordy for me :(. Too.Much.Text! And too realistic, I mean, it's something more suited for a Seinen magazine instead of JUMP! It's dark, and I think it's too much for young kids :|.
Death Note started off quite okay for me, because I actually already had a grasp of what was going on (because I had already watched the live actions and movies). I haven't watched the anime yet, and I guess I probably will. It's going to be fun.
The manga should rightfully end when L died. No, srsly. The feeling I get is that Ohba is trying to extend the story just because it's popular and it can be done. To me, death note is a battle between L and Light. A race to see who gets eliminated first. With L gone, it should just end there.
In fact, I felt everything else got so boring after L died because Light became L, and it's boringgg. No competitiveness or fighting because it's hard to do it within yourself. I don't know how I managed since after chapter 60! It's wierd because it's like catching someone who is yourself or invisible. I know I stopped paying attention to everything else and just clicked through the pages just so I want to complete it.
Also, right after L was gone, there's Near and Mello, which is just stupid. It's like repeating the same sixty chapters again, just that you're fighting two more opponents, new characters and given a proper ending. What the heck. I do like Near, though.
It was so boringggg, because it's all about L and Near fighting. Mello's role wasn't that large either. At least with Light and L, Light had so much things planned, aka getting the notebook/forfeiting it/gaining it back/doing whatever is planned just to get L.
Maybe I never properly payed attention to what happened after the sixty chapters, but it's just Light and Near trying to figure out each other, and it's just text, text and more text. Light is no longer killing people, and it's boring. Manipulating only is also boring. He thinks waaay too much. He longer does fun stuffs but just TALK TALK TALK TALK TALK. Argh.
Near + Mello = L. Bad bad bad. They're both inferior to L in terms of intelligence. Everything got so draggy because both of them make up L, and thus with only one, it's impossible to catch Light. Constant switching of scenarios and now it's just two people catching Light. Two people doing the same thing as what the first sixty chapters is doing. :/.
I was upset with the ending too. Because Light did such a not Light-like stuff. I never liked it when characters did stuff out of their character. It just seems... so wrong. :/. And it makes me dislike them because my image and impression of them just changes. Terribly.
I actually expected a lot out of death note, considering it's popularity. I was disappointed. I wasn't even aware of the time skip -wow-. Everything was just progressing so much in the first sixty chapters and it kinda kept me excited, and then boom downhill from sixty plus onwards. I was excited when L died but surprised that it was still going to continue for another fifty chapters or so because I wanted to know how they wanted to do it.
Guess I was disappointed because it's just new characters to succeed L. And the same thing. Again. Idk, I just feel that it's bad. It went from an nine from me to a seven-eight. I guess it's just Near that kept me going since he's so cute and fluffy!
Oh, but a bright part is that I never once thought Misa is annoying. In fact, Misamisa is cute! ('w').
Repetitive stuffs I said there, oops.
On a side note, I need advice.
It's the first time in 2011 since I last used a dream tag! What's with me suddenly using tags that I haven't used in awhile.
I wonder if I have been reading Dgureman and Death Note too much. I dream that I was queueing with some friends (I know they don't exist because I have never seen them before!) And then I suddenly know of the Shinigami (aka Sido(h) if you read DN) and apparently they're going to take over the singers around that area!
Apparently a matsuri is going on and enka singers are there. My friends and I were queueing for an animangafest though. o.O. The Shinigami Sido(h) tried to take over the Enka singer and if he did, she will turn into an Akuma! .__. And I just had to prevent that. Wow. What am I? I'm not even an exorcist or what, but I prevented it. -__-. Also, I didn't even touch any death note, so how the hell did I manage to see Sido(h)? -_-.
Anyway, mission accomplished and just when I went back (there was a long queue/crowd) and since I left the queue, I begged the person behind me (LOL) to let me stand w/ my friends because I was there originally! Luckily they allowed. :3 otherwise have to queue again and the ppl won't let me in cause they see me cut queue!
Just the other day only though, I dreamt that I was supposed to go on an excursion, but I sort of last minute decided it and therefore I was late. And then for some reason, there's this huge hill (no rly) and I am supposed to climb that. Then the guide say: The last person who reach the top will be eliminated. Wth.
There's two other ppl beside me, then I'm like NO I CANNOT LOSE and started running the hill up like crazy, but I didn't make it wtf. I reached the top, but my hand nvr touch the peak so I drop down. I thought the end liao lor. LOL BUT THEN WHEN I LOOK BACK ONE OF THE TWO EXPERIENCING LAG THEN STUCK THERE LMAO. I take this chance (and for some reason all of us transform to K-ON characters, Azusa/Mugi/Yui. I was Yui (I rmb being upset :p) and I chiong like siao and made it! Yay. Wierd is still wierd, though.
I remember I had a scene change where I was watching a matsuri w/ @kaemq, and it's fun. She even took care of me ;__;. I remember walking out for quite a distance and say D: YABAI, I FORGOT MY WATER BOTTLE! And @kaemq was like :p don't worry! I take for you already. Omg so yasashii even in my dreams! :3.
P/S: This is the first time in 2011 that I used an animanga tag! The last time I used it was... in June '10. What the heck, does that mean that I actually went for almost a year w/o talking a whole lot about animanga! That's amazing. Considering it's me. No, rly.
And time flies o__o. Has it already been a year since I last read the ending to FMA? Has it already been a year since FMA ended and I last watched the anime? Has it already been a year since I found strobe edge and loved it so much? Wow, wow and wow. It feels like 2008 only. But I guess right now I just want April to come first. :/
And long post and long. *wtf*.
Ja.
Shitarana!
