Well said.

Yet another reason why the emphasis on consumerism is such a bad thing. It's really dumbed us down as a country and a culture. The paranoiac in me believes this to be intentional.

I'll tell ya, from a Republicrats standpoint, I too was really disappointed in the way in which Obama won (as were a lot of people that cared). I'm glad he did win, don't get me wrong, but I can't truly can't imagine he won this election on intelligent votes.

He was a popular guy. A "lemme level with you" sort of guy. He exuded something beyond the norm and he appealed to the downtrodden, the minorities (are they the same thing) and young voters who don't so much as care about the issues as they care about things like "he's cool" and merely want to be a part of the current popular movement.

So yeah. Shame he didn't win because the country really has gotten over our prejudice (I like mine dammit) or really gave a LOT of thought to the issues. But hell, he won. He did something right. So cheers to him.
