Von Trier, along with Harlan Ellison, is one of the few artists who are allowed to be as much of a prick and asshole as they like because they are both at the tops of their fields and are artists practically unequaled. I will never fault the man for being a bastard, until he makes a shitty film that is.

SUCH a bastard. But in my old age, I've learned to appreciate a person whose art can wrench a visceral reaction out of me.
