[Torn glances down, having forgotten for a moment the little girl latched to his arm.
She...unnerves him. Such a soft and pretty face. They aren't made like her back home.
And he can tell he unnerves her back. Maybe frightens her a little--or a lot. The thought doesn't sit any better with him than the overall situation. He scares little girls. Go him.
Still, he tries his best to not be so Mardamned threatening. Here's a small smile, it could help?]
This? Ah, nothing. Nothin'.
[He motions to his comm. a little, voice slipping back into the comfortable slummer slur he grew up with.]

[Is she doing it right? Johanna has never really had occasion to practice small talk before, and despite reading many a book on etiquette she can't help but worry that she'll make a terrible blunder. Although, judging from the man's accent, he might not notice even if she did. In a way, it's almost comforting.]
[He's tempted to call Erol a pet just for a laugh, but thinks better of it. She might take it the wrong way and that could have a serious impact on the rest of the time spent shackled to one another.]
