Why? Well, 'cause there was an exchange between the pirate first mate an' Redd. She defected, swore loyalty t'Redd, but had t'hand over a red box before he swooped in an' carted her an' the rest of the crew there away. That little red box seemed pretty damn important to her--an' to the crew, too.

What would I like t'know? All you know.

Either way, after the last pirate raid, there was something going around. Everyone was sick, irritable, it was bad. I was wandering around and in the temple on deck 13 there was a red box. Whatever it is, it's powerful. It was the cause of everything, we had a hell of a time closing it. Don't know what's in it. The two I was with looked in it and let out this horrifying scream...They don't remember at all. The Heron came and took it afterward.

Now I wonder how many the Captain has in his possession.

I got one from offing a pirate last time there was a huge attack like this one. Made me sick as hell. And I don't get sick.

It was a while back, but...

The box itself was pretty small ... and I had it for about three or four days? Two members of the crew told me not to open it and to return it.
