Children and belonging

I watched this for the first time when I was doing my adoption training in the UK. I saw it again when I was doing more training here in BC. This is one of the most important videos I have ever seen. There is no picture, only words on a screen, and children speaking. This video has shaped my career... I will never forget it. I found it online today ( Read more... )

The person who made that has witnessed so much pain. I don't know how you do your job. But I do know you have helped children to try and climb out of that pit and also do all you can to try and support parents to be better.

I think I cry whenever I watch it because inevitably we make mistakes and the kids suffer for it. I think of all the things I have done that I really should have done differently. But that said, you learn from your mistakes hopefully anyway.

It made me so sad and upset to watch last night (though I have seen a few times before) that I had to go to bed very early and sleep.
