How did you hear about dystopian_flux ? From a friend that I knew in a previous game that we were both in. I was invited to come in to apply by this same person and here I am.

Character Application
Character Name [Canonly Written]: Sheldon Jeffery Sands
Series: Once Upon a Time in Mexico
Gender: Male
The Item: His fake arm that he uses as a decoy. (I know it sounds silly but hey, he's not exactly conventional. He can get guns and other things later. The arm is custom.)
Point with which your character has been taken from canon: I'm taking him from the point in canon where he was drugged by Dr. Guevera just before he discovers that Agent Ajedrez is in fact Barillo's daughter.
Personality Sheldon Sands is a soft-spoken man and blunt. He speaks his mind but knows when to be quiet as well. He's often twisted in his views of the world but his reasons for balance are strictly professional. He is a policeman by trade and will do whatever it takes to get the job done even if it means thinking outside the box. He isn't exactly good nor evil and has a neutral way of looking at the world. He knows human nature pretty well and often manipulates others to get the task done. He doesn't fight unless he has to and would rather have others do his dirty work for him.

Sheldon doesn't panic quickly and has a very long fuse. If he is angered, he will not hesitate to pull the trigger. This is the unpredictable side of his nature. If he views someone as worthless, he leaves them alone but this can also work two ways. If the person he lets go knows too much, the problem lies in that information coming back on him negatively or they simply will dismiss him as just being crazy for thinking up such a ploy to begin with and not bother with it.

Sheldon isn't exactly a by the book player in the game of life. He's more of a by the numbers type of person which means that he likes to have things in order and in its place in order to carry out his plans fully and efficiently. He's a thinker and a schemer and will cheat the system in order to restore the balance which is his driving force. He doesn't scream when he's hurt since his training wouldn't allow him to.

He hopes to have a world where he is not needed to manipulate the system in order to restore the peace. Though as useless as it would make him, he'll know then that he's done his job well and will not have to worry about war again. He knows that it's impossible for one man to do it alone so his thoughts on retirement are in the forefront in his mind as a death sentence.

In extreme circumstances, Sheldon is hard to read but one thing is certain for those that do know him. He constantly plots. He's always thinking and he's very calculating. He would rather stand in the background than get involved but there are times that it happens where he has to take action and he's virtually fearless...unless it's a woman then he becomes snarky to hide his nervousness.
Powers/Abilities CANON: Sheldon is completely human though he does have a very high pain tolerance from his training in the CIA as well as his marksmanship and his intuition. Those have been heightened through his training and puts him on a different level than most policemen in his position.
Powers/Abilities AU: There is nothing to really nerf but if the mods feel that something needs to be nerfed, I'm game for it. Just let me know and I'll adjust him accordingly.
History: Sheldon Sands was sent to Culican, Mexico to track down and destroy the Barillo Cartel and to orchestrate the assassination of her president. Since General Emiliano Marquez was hired by Armando Barillo to assissinate the president, this alerted Agent Sands to take action and put a stop to this poly-tactical display of power. However, there was a price to be paid.

Sands met with a man named Belini in a small cafe in Culican. Belini gave Sands the name of a possible prospect who was known as the Guitar Fighter though little was known to Sands about him other than what Belini could tell him. Sands, of course, was interested in this man once he heard the over-inflated and embellished tale of epically strange proportions. Sands sent one of his informants, Cucuy, to apprehend the Guitar Fighter and later recruited him at a restaurant where he informed "El" that the President will be killed in a coup d eta while "El" will take out General Marquez once the president falls. If El accepted, he was to meet with a man named Salamane who was in fact Sands in a bad disguise as a priest. Sands gave El detailed instructions as to what is expected of him and where he needs to report to. Failure to comply will cause a forfeiture of protection.

Sands waited outside of the church as El commenced with his test. After a few minutes, Sands calls El on the phone and asked if he was still standing. Once he received the confirmation, that was when the real work began. Sands met with a retired FBI agent named Jorge Ramirez and began a discussion of a plan to take down Barillo and Guevera by convincing Agent Ramirez that an agent never really retires when he retold the story of how his partner was tortured and later died by the hands of Guevera which in turned sealed the deal.

After meeting with Agent Ramirez, Sands met up with the president's adviser, Nicolas Que Pasa, at a bullfight to discuss the plans to bring about a revolution to purge the system of the wrongs that have been committed. In order to do this, the president had to be killed and the only way to ensure that can happen was to have someone on the inside to make it happen by setting up the president for his death. The adviser informed Sands that on The Day of the Dead the president will give a speech in the town of Culican. The adviser tells Sands that there is a way to get the assassins into the building without alerting security. Sands rigs the bullfight and causes the matador to fail. This action was one of many that Sands performs in order to keep the balance. Cucuy moves to collect the money from the fights and it was Sands that pays off the adviser by giving him the profits of it, of course Cucuy took his share without telling Sands about it which Sands will find out later on just how greedy Cucuy really is.

Sands later met with Belini again only this time to get the information that was withheld by the otherwise cheesy informant in an attempt to hold on to what little power that he had. The waitress, who was really of no consequence other than that she flubbed up and spilled coffee on Sand's fake arm used as a decoy while his other hand held the gun under the table, was shot after Belini was killed for noticing the dupe.

Sands took Belini's body to a river and began checking him which proved interesting. He found the information he needed hidden behind the eye patch and inside what was supposed to be the socket for Belini's right eye but Sheldon still looked in the worst possible places anyway to make certain that he left no stone unturned to get the information that he needed to bring down the Cartel.

He later went to the apartment where Agent Ajedrez was staying at and was met with a couple of gunshots of deliberate misses when he broke in through the door. Sands complained that his key didn't work and Ajedrez responded that it was too small. Now whether she was referring to the plot or to the key itself is unknown at this point. Sands tosses the information to the AFN agent and moved on to give her more details of the plan.

The same evening, Sands calls up El to explain the details of his next assignment. This is to ensure that his team can get into the president's mansion without being spotted and how to infiltrate it when the time comes for the assassination attempt.

The following morning, Agent Ramirez calls up Sands to let him know that he's in and he's ready to aid Sands. His first target is to "get inside" which at first Ramirez thought he meant to get close to and apprehend Billy Chambers, another wanted fugitive from the San Antonio cartel ring that Barillo fronted. Sands informs Ramirez that he didn't have enough information to get a solid lead and instructs Ramirez to do what needs to be done to get the information and to take any opportunity that is presented.

Cucuy double crosses Sands by informing Armando Barillo of what Sands' plan is which puts Barillo in a position to take action action against Cucuy, severing now two leads that could give Sands information to what the Barillo Cartel was up to.

The morning of The Day of the Dead, November 2, Barillo underwent reconstructive surgery and it was Ramirez that discovers the body double used for Barillo to make his escape. Ramirez was then captured by the cartel while Sands was left to figure out what has happened. He is under the impression that Cucuy left for more money and his inside man simply vanished. It was during this crunch of time that Sands was beginning to stress out and he dropped his guard which was a horrible mistake on his part that caused him to be captured as well to later loose his eyes in the process by Dr. Guevera. It was here that Sands discovered that Agent Ajedrez was part of the cartel being Armando Barillo's daughter which was completely unexpected on his behalf.

Sands was later released from the cartel's hold and left out to fend on the streets amongst the chaos. Sands knew that he was being followed and later killed the man that shot him in the left arm despite his handicap. Now with the guns that was taken from the man he shot and killed, he used his senses to continue what he had started. Sands took down two of them men that were waiting at the plaza. He was shot on both legs but managed to kill the two men that tried to stop him. Sands played dead in the street which alerted Ajedrez to finish the job when she spotted him that he was still alive. In a trick, he shot her in the abdomen then fell down on the street again.

Once the task was finished and everything was dealt with accordingly, Sands lifted his hand when he heard the bells of a familiar bicycle which happened to be the boy that accompanied him as his guide through the streets when he lost his eyes. With the task done, he quietly lived his life as a blind man in Mexico while the order was restored to the country with the entire cartel now laid to rest.

RP Sample [First Person]: Okay, I'm supposed to talk about myself. Fine.

[He lights up a rolled cigarette and smirks as he blows out the smoke.]

Let's start with...how I got here, shall we? Alright. Is that thing on?

[He looks at the mirror then back at his interviewer.]

First of all, I don't know how I got here. One minute I'm sitting in a diner in Mexico after ordering my usual then the next, well, I'm looking right at you. Kinda sucks, don't it? And where is here exactly? Russia? And when? Well, that puts me in another extreme now doesn't it? First I'm in Mexico burning my ass up in the heat and now I'm in a place where it's colder than a witch's tit freezing my balls off. Why can't I be in someplace nice for a change?

[He stands up only to find a guard standing at the door.]

Okay, okay, I get it. I'm here for another reason. Fine. I'm supposed to fight zombies, right? Sure beats cartel chasing. I'm in. When do I start?
RP Sample [Third Person]: Sheldon was out walking around the city not knowing that there was a curfew that he had to follow. He didn't exactly pay attention to the rules. He was used to working outside of the box so things like curfews, by laws and written rules often were overlooked. He always found a loop hole anyway.

He heard sirens in the distance and smirked. "It's about time." Then he saw what the sirens were for and blinks. "What the...?" He squinted his eyes to take a better look and stuck to the shadows to see what was in the distance. "Oh fuck what is that?" He said softly to himself. He took a few more steps and saw the jerky and graceless movements of the zombies and his eyes widened. "Okay, now I'm going to freak right out." He ran from the shadows and headed toward the apartment building where he was residing.

It was then that he realized that there was one rule that he had to follow and that was now plainly obvious as to why it was in place. He quickly threw open the door and ran up the stairs toward his apartment. Once inside, he slammed the door closed and worked to calm down his nerves. If there was one thing he was afraid of, those things outside were certainly up there on his list now.

The first thing he did was to check the numbers that were coming toward the building. More than ten was a problem and there was about 7 approaching. He grabbed his gun and chambered a round into the barrel. "Come on, you fuckers. I'm ready for you now," he said as he leveled his gun then stopped his aim when he saw the group that was meant to stop them then tilted his head. "Huh, where were they when I needed them? Cops....takes them forever to respond."
Why do you play this character? As I said, I was invited to apply by a friend and when she found that I played a Sands, I thought that I would bring him here. He's a new muse to LJ and since there was some CR already built with him and this is the first time that I have previous CR to work with, I thought it would be an interesting challenge to try to work with what was previously done. His memory is going to be very hazy and will most likely need to be reminded of his previous time here but it should be fun to watch him squirm for once. XD
