How about a bit of an update. I have been staying in Ft. Lauderdale with my parents for about a month. The visit has been enjoyable and surprisingly short. I leave for Tallahassee on the 9th. The following day, one of our affiliates that is to be under my supervision (for organizing purposes) for the duration of my internship will be ( Read more... )

Sometimes in order to work on the grand scale issues you have to work to bandage a problem that is already in the community. The poor in Tallahassee cant wait for 10 whatever years for their kids to get help for the problems they have now, or wait to get fixed themselves so that they can provide for their families. This act would cost everyone barely anything and allow us to work towards protecting EVERYONE in our community who do their best to pay taxes. Obviously the problem is a lot bigger, and includes increasing wages, creating universalized health care, stopping racism and the class war, but right now...we need to do something to protect our community immediately.

Clearly you were in support of that sales tax, I see. It derails the main issue here. It's almost insulting to the cause to think that putting in a few incredibly low budget health services to the uninsured will placate the need for decent affordable health care ( ... )

what forces the cost of health care to absurd amounts in the first place? The doctors or the insurance companies? Hmmm. They've been fighting that one for years.

The cost of medicine can largely be blamed on the blood sucking researchers who patent it. Health care is a business. Medicine recently put out on the market isn't affordable until 5-7 years after final testing for the sole reason of making money. It's absolutely sickening. But everyone plays a part into this. The doctor's like collecting on insurance and the insurance companies need to pull a profit. Hi capitalism, how are you today.
