Oh gosh, honey. That sounds like it's going to be a rough little bit of time. However, I feel like you guys are going to be able to get through it with a minimal amount of pain. At least, I hope so. I'll be honest, I can't imagine what it must be like to have family members treat you poorly for who you are and who your partner is. But I actually don't think anyone who met you could really hate your guts. I love your guts. And I miss you. Breathe deep, be yourself, and if they can't get past their homophobia to see what a rad and worthy person you are - well, you said it, few actual consequences. You're surrounded by love, in reality.

I'm sorry I fail so hard at replying to comments lately, but I just keep coming back to this entry whenever I'm starting to freak about the in-laws' rapidly-approaching visit, and reading what you wrote, and grinning a little (while scuffing my toe all aww-shucks, you know this about me), and then trying to breathe deeply and calm down. It will all be fine in the end. It will. ♥

You really, really do. This time, I even have MY OWN COUCH for you to sleep on. And a cat for you to snuggle! Edie is fluffy and ridiculous, you will love her. :D

Holy shit what a nightmare. I sometimes forget just how incredibly lucky I am with my in-laws. Only one cartoon-villain in the family is actually quite a good rate.

That is remarkably good luck! And all the cartoon-villains in my own family tree have all shuffled off this mortal coil by now, so at least it's just the in-laws to contend with. I mean, who knows, maybe it'll all be fine yet. ♥

James's family are really ridiculously ablist, so OMG DO I EVER GET THIS, the extreme nerves over meeting (or spending any time with at all) the not!in-laws, and while they think I'm probably an okay person (well, his mum doesn't) they don't like that I'm with their son. It sucks, and I get it, but you can get through this! It'll be okay! Because Miz N is more important than they are, what she thinks and feels about you is more important than anything they could think or feel about you, so there. *hugs you to bits* ♥ ♥ ♥
