Four months ago we got rid of satellite TV.  Partially it was because I was watching too much TV, and partially to save money.

I thought that there would be a period of time where I'd miss watching TV, as an addict would miss taking drugs.  So, we put some measures in place in case I needed a fix.  We got a Netflix subscription… we figured out ( Read more... )

Yeah. I felt the same way about watching TV. I don't think that I could have just given it up without killing the satellite.

In regards to your "Pontius Pilate" remark...Rob threw out the comment of "Crucifix Ups". Very funny. :)

Funny, we keep talking about getting rid of cable. We have to keep regular tv, because of pbs kids. Nice to know it's not too hard - but I would miss Jon Stewart and Neicy Nash....

Congrats on the more focused use of your time! AND the more "pure" use of your free time reading! There is SOME TV that is very good, but unless a person is really into the shared experience/blogging in real time about it... but ah, there's the rub for me: I have cut down on TV at various times, only to simply shift that time over to the net. So many blogs to read and comment on...

I don't watch tube (at least not much. I'll flip through channels for 10 minutes while I'm eating dinner some nights -- but I'm just keeping my brain active and not getting too bored, and VERY rarely do I get so involved with any show that I care how it comes out.) so good for you! And great for the loss. (Although not so great for the back pain. Hope that is/gets better.)
