*groan* Kids!

Rowan (2yo) won't eat any vegetables at all, not even potato.  How the heck am I supposed to get this kid to eat something other than bread and meat?  I've tried making veggie faces, veggie rissoles and patties, parboiling or offering veggies to him raw.

We think he has mild learning difficulties (related to hearing problems) so he's next to ( Read more... )

Sebastian went through a long (several months) stage of not eating anything except pasta, bread and milk. He survived but I know how worrying it is! I eventually got him eating fruit (dried fruit in particular was popular...like lollies!) and eventually he started picking at his veggies. Even now, 12 months later, he doesn't really eat much in the way of veggies but eats fresh fruit like it is going out of fashion, which for me is good enough for now.

I can't really offer any other suggestions...maybe ring a childhood nurse and ask if it is a really bad thing that he isn't eating anything other than bread and meat. It might not be a huge deal for littlies? I don't know. The nurse might be able to suggest some tactics too?

How about offering him things like brocoli nuggets (like chicken nuggets, but hiding the veggies), or things of that nature? When I worked at daycare, that's what a lot of mums did and the kids did eat them.

Well, if he eats bread, what about veggie bread. I have nice recipies for zuchini bread (which sweetcorn can be added to) and pumpkin bread (which is nice with sundried tomatoes added). Actually, neither is a true bread, more like a savory cake.
I also made bolognese for my nice and nephew with "hidden" vegies. Finely grated carrot, zuchini, pumpkin and capsicum in the sauce. They never knew that they consumed veggies because they were so finely grated.
