Our team total was around 43,000. Our highest scorer (my friend Brian) got an 8100. I was around 6900. Our "middle A" got a 7700. I took a gold in interview (and a gold for first place), and our school as a whole took 46 medals.
Our team name was, yes, South High Thrift Unicorn. we also had the South High Delicious Ninjas and South High Juiicccyy Fruit.
We were all pretty much on crack when we came up with those, but it was brilliant to hear them say all three names a million times.
Whootah! Those are some fine scores, you got there.
I'm envious of your ability to name your teams (we're simply "Lathrop High School"), especially with names like that. That must have been hella sweet to see.
As might be expected from a state that, in its entirety, has a fifth of the population of Chicago, our scores aren't quite as good. State happens in two weeks for us, and Regionals scores are looking...well, okay. We got 44 medals and a score of 37,500 or so, a good two thousand points better than last year (when we had only five people who had had more than a day to study). Personally, I'd feel worse about my 6200 if I'd done more than just a few hours of study, but as it is, it'll go up some by state; we won state last year with around a 40,500, and we have a good, full team this year.
That's wonderful. We had quite a few last minute walk-ons to Juicy Fruit this year. Our friend Geno had 5 weeks to study, and we picked up Donna the day of the competition having never even looked at the material. Surprisingly, Geno got somewhere around a 4500. Thankfully, everyone on Thrift Unicorn was a veteran except for two members out of our nine (their scores didn't count).
Let me know how states work out for you. If you win, we'll have to meet at nationals and celebrate the victories.
