No time to get to your other questions right now, but seriously.. yes, the Mark Twain quote is apocryphal, but it is almost always the furthest thing from "sweaty" in SF in June/July. We know the tourists because they're the ones shivering in shorts and sandals and massively overpriced sweatshirts they just bought from Bubba Gump's at Fisherman's Wharf.
I don't think I know anyone who doesn't live in the East Bay that has A/C. It's rarely warm enough to need it here. (Bring a cardigan or hoodie with you - layers are a must in SF. One block can be the difference between chilly and toasty warm.)
As for local shops, depending on what you're into, there's all sorts of options. Valencia, and 16th St is a good place to start for fairly unique, funky stuff. 5 & Diamond has gorgeous things. Across the street are a couple of shops that I can never remember the names of, that carry equally lovely, if less wild clothing. A couple of blocks further up Val, is Paxton Gate, which is maybe a little creepy if you're super sqeamish about taxidermy and skulls, but is very much worth a visit.
There's lots of good food around there, too. Sunflower is one of my favorites. Another Monkey (on Valencia, near 14th) is good. I don't like We Be Sushi or YoYo, but YMMV.
Between 17th/Market and 19th, but you'll know when you run out of shops because there will be steep hills on either side. Don't forget to check out the side streets though, especially 18th for a block or two on either side of Castro. (Church is also a pretty neat street to walk down, longer business corridor too.)
I can't even tell you how much you don't need A/C. Just got back from a date in which we'd hoped to take a moonlit walk. We were shivering cold, and the fog blocked our view of the moon and stars. I promise this will be every bit as true in a couple months. See Mark Twain quote about this city. And be sure to bring a jacket and layers

Oh god, a friend and I went to see the fireworks on 4th of July from the Embarcadero a couple of years back... we damn near froze to death. And we had dressed for it with hats, scarves, gloves, and warm coats! The tourists were sad.
In terms of cool things I am looking for anything very San Francisco... maybe shows (something awesome and gay pridey? or anything else), maybe things that involve being/eating on the beach (we don't have that in Montreal) or anything cool. I am excited for all the pride festivities as well, so if there is something worth checking out within that i'd be happy to.
I'm glad to know I can get some foodie advice! Honestly, because we are such foodies, we are prepared to pay for amazing food, but also love low-key types of eateries. Basically anything that is ethnic (though not too excited for asian or italian but anything else really) and anything that you would consider VERY San Francisco. I would like to go to at least one fancy french place, to assess the french culinary awesomeness of the city, and pretty much whatever else you've got!

I am looking for anything that's a local boutique for some awesome clothes/shoes that aren't too expensive
