A post on a site I frequent led to me to these scans from a 1951 book called On Becoming A Woman by Dr. Harold Shryock. This book describes everything a young woman needs to know about growing up to be a faithful wife and mother, which, as he notes, is the fulfillment of all women's deepest desires. omg... if and when i have a daughter, this is what i'm gonna give her when she's going through puberty...

i love the way he described the shame the girl will feel when she masturbates... it reminds me of some old anti drug commercial from when we were younger. stuff like "how to spot a drug user" or "how to know when your friends are using drugs" and they would go through a list like, u'll see them without energy, ashamed of what they do, and becomes anti social and stuffs... maybe the friends were just masturbating and not using drugs!!! this book is enlightening me as a young woman [i think i'm still classified as a young woman?]

most of all i love the way he explains why women should have more control than men... it's like a subtle way of saying don't have sex, but if you do, it's all your fault and god will only punish u!!!
