I wanted to love Twin Peaks, but never got around to it. Maybe in five years :)
But that's not why I'm here: I'm in Bamfield right now, and we want to make yoghurt. You make it in your slow-cooker, right? Do you use a keep-warm setting, or do you put it on 'low'? Is 'low' too hot?
However, I have not had a yogurt success since September, and I eventually gave up. I think I'm having trouble keeping it warm enough overnight, or something, despite wrapping the whole thing in two bath towels and a really insulating down comforter. So I dunno. The Internet is full of instructions, and maybe it can guide you better than I can.
The low setting is a bit too warm, though, to answer your question. The keep warm setting might be right, but you'd need a thermometer to be sure. I think it would still be too hot, with my crock pot, anyway. Remember that the "warm" setting is still designed to keep cooked food at the Kill Bacteria stage, so it doesn't spoil before you get home to eat it.
Thank you! I think I might order one of their countertop yoghurt cultures - I find that using commercial yoghurt as a starter is kind of hit-and-miss. And now that I'm checking out the website, homemade buttermilk is tempting me..!
It's true. Lack of DVDs is totally an obstacle. It's definitely not possible by any other means to get copies of files ripped from DVDs by fans who have been loyal to a show for 20 years and have had an Internet presence since Usenet days.
