Poetry Accumulation

...I don't know why I don't have compilation of poetry on LJ, but probably because I assumed I already had one.

This one got published in I-mag:

La Foca
My body thirsts to be in Mexico.
It is as much my home.
My seal skin in your attic.
One day I will take my daughter
and run away.

Last night I almost told you how I felt

trees leave thumbprints in the sky
invisible--except in glimmers of light

This was Gina's favorite, and was read for "Knox's Poem of the Day":

Crinkles
In rib shaped iron, pink foil wrappers
pinched, into spoons and little chairs:
this is how we make origami in Orizaba.
The residue of dark chocolate one my fingertips
leaves tell tale signs on toy sized tea sets,
we pretend to sip
(two parts dirt, one part water)
with spoons, we keep in a tin can
left in you care.

Adaptation
I was making tea,
the water burned my hands.
There are cracks:
dirt gathers in the knuckles.
My fingers hardened.
I began to shed, peels of alligator skin.
And then stripping,
what was already part of a natural process.

Another of Gina's favorites:

Portrait

You see my back. You want to paint.
I want to turn around and catch you, white full moon.
My arms are not complete.

We are the only ones who know

Sand dollar. I had never seen one before.
So we searched and searched
until we could find one.

My mother rolled her pants up
and stooped among the seaweed
while I collected pebbles.

When she found it, is was dead.
A shore, in Mexico.

Torsion

You took a stethoscope
to my spiral shell.
What you found:
love, on the hollow side.
Heart problems,
because you see the vacancy
and the organs have shrunk.
