What kind of quarter was it? Sometimes the new quarters don't work in old machines. I think they're a different weight. Some of the washing machines at WM had trouble with the new quarters. I usually had to chuck 'em into the slots with a lot of momentum behind them to get them to work.

Anyway, sorry you had such an annoyance. Sort of thing happens to everyone at one time or another.
