I got eighty percent-- but I think the questions are such that very few people will score badly. (And, honestly, I don't think my mind is so open my brain's about to fall out, which is the result text.)
For one thing, most of that is stuff that people want to be true of themselves, or wouldn't admit to not agreeing with, even in a situation where nobody will see their particular answers. And the questions are really pretty broad-- I might not think ill of someone who's on welfare per se, but I might disapprove of choices they made to get there-- which is ostensibly the same thing.
It also doesn't catch people whose minds are so open they've shut on the other side.
...There's a sound recording from a geography class that's a pretty spectacular example of that, came up in the news lately. You'd probably enjoy it.
I definitely agree that this is a poorly written test. Open mindedness is a difficult thing to define, let alone measure. Some of my friends have scored as low as 36%, so I don't think it's difficult to score "badly" but I don't see much of a correlation between how open minded I think somebody is and how they scored on this test. And yeah, I do find that some of the people who really consider themselves open minded strive so hard for tolerance that they become intolerant. It's a pity there wasn't a question about smoking or nativity scenes on the test.
