Projekt Revolution: August 17 and August 22, 2007

August 17, 2007

Show was at Blossom, which is all of 20 minutes from my house. Spent the day running errands, about 11 o'clock I got a phone call from Kristina asking if I'd be willing to meet up with Tiffa to get her Detroit ticket for Brooke. Called her, nothing really happened, I decided I didn't like her much, that was the end of that, kinda.

Picked up Brandon and drove to Blossom. Got there and my pre-bought parking pass got us pretty close. I think we were in about 1-ish. The Revolution Stage bands were playing. I dunno. Brandon and I camped out by a tree on the hill and waited.

The following is copied from a private entry from that day:

Oh. My. God.

Yeah. That about sums it up.

Fucking tired, and my face still hurts from grinning after talking to Simon and Emma on the phone. But it is an excellent tired.

I don't feel like talking about all the shit before the show, except that I once again forgot my ticket until I was 10 minutes away from home.

Food was insanely overpriced and yet I spent $10 on a boa and lent my baby gay boy Brandon $49 so he could get LP stuff.

Julien-k sucked, music was good, but their insanely repetitive lyrics completely turned me off.

Placebo was decent. I wasn't like, blown away or anything, but they weren't bad.

HIM was good as well.

Taking Back Sunday entertains me to no end.

My Chem was phenomenal. Completely and utterly redeemed themselves of the May shows. I love the set, I love love LOVE the lights, it was just awesome.

Set List:
This Is How I Disappear

Welcome To The Black Parade

Sleep
Teenagers
Helena
Cancer

Later discovered that we had an extended set list. Heaven Help Us, Cemetery Drive and Sleep. I'd like to think it was because Columbus was an utter failure.

After this, before Linkin Park, was the epic text message match with our beloved Tiffa.

Tiffa [9:33 pm] You buyin the ticket? I'm about to leave
Me [9:35 pm] No, sorry. She didnt leave me the money.
Tiffa [9:35 pm] Oh well she can pay you back
Me [9:36 pm] Im out of cash. Sorry.
Tiffa [9:37 pm] You want me to ship it? Have her send the money.
Me [9:40 pm] She already has paid someone for a tic from the venue. She just came back, she has 20 if you want to meet us
Tiffa [9:40 pm] 20 for my ticket? That's way cheap
Me [9:41 pm] Sorry but thats all she has
Tiffa [9:42 pm] 20 now, and could she send me more money in the mail?
Me [9:44 pm] No. Forget it she needs the money for gas. Im really sorry.
Tiffa [9:45 pm] Um okay. Don't ask me for anymore tix
Me [9:48 pm] Look im sorry but im just the messenger. Ill pass on them message.

She went on to ask KTB and Kristina to drive her to Columbus so she could get her shit and then drive her to Detroit. That's a roughly 8 hour drive. No.

KTB, Kristina, Brooke and Tina left before LP leaving my baby gay boy and I to watch the show. Linkin Park was awesome. They had a really awesome intro, it was No More Sorrow and the sheet was up and the lights were synced to the music so they flashed with the guitars which looked really cool. Brandon lost his voice.

When we left we went out a different entrance because of traffic, which took us through the winding hills of the Valley and I almost got lost. It was scary.

Some pictures stolen from Kristina:

They stole blankets.

Cheesy! :D

on da hill.

Cheesy with out the flash. :D

What can I say, I like devil horns.

August 22, 2007

Meredith and I left Ohio on the 21st and drove to Kristina's, where we met up with Becca and Denise who'd driven from Indiana. We got there pretty late because Mer had to work. KTB and Kristina were on their way back with Tiffa from Canada, they were originally going to crash at KTB's but Tiffa and Kristina came back to her house instead. I think. Its all kinda hazy.

Tiffa tried to get us to move the time of the meet-up at Caribou for her, was bitchy toward my sister when she was still asleep and she wanted to be moving. Because you know, its absolutely imperative that you be there early for a festival. *eye roll* Kristina dropped her off at the venue, then met Mer, Denise and I at the cafe in the middle of a torrential down pour. Thank god that stopped.

Meet-up at Caribou was so much fun, FINALLY got to meet Brody my beloved. She's so adorable and small lol.

Left the coffee place and made it to the venue without getting lost, go me, via a back dirt road. That was kinda scary. Rain had let up by then so we only took an umbrella, I had my hoodie which I later put in Kristina's car and forgot about. When we got to the gate, they weren't going to let me with my boxes o' promo so we had to wait for either Kristina to come and take it through or Trisha. They showed up at the same time. Meanwhile, down by the buses, there were MCR members running amok. Gerard runs like a fucking pansy, fyi. Someone was climbing on the golf cart James Dewees was driving and I know Worm was there because I kinda nerded a bit.

Got in, was given a purple reentry pass similar to this to stick on my chest. Helped hang up promo around the venue until the security people told us to stop and we retreated to the booth. Mer kinda disappeared, I dunno what she was up to. Bought a poster and a T-shirt. Took some stuff out to Kristina's car and upon trying to get in, I was told I wasn't allowed to have my carrabiner. Fuckers. Took my keys and Kristina's to my car to drop off our hooks.

After a while, Trisha showed back up to give us much needed direction. I helped her clean out a bin that had gotten destroyed, then this couple who's names I can't remember and I followed her out to their bus to bundle up the new promo and change out boxes. Out there, while Trisha was digging around under the bus, Eddie from TBS came off her bus which apparently wasn't dry like TBS's was. He'd just gotten back because on August 17th he'd had a kid and went home to be with his wife. His name is Jonas Galaxy Reyes or something like that and he and Trisha have bonded because they're both Colombian. Also saw Adam wandering around in his hideous red plaid shirt.

While out there, we needed rubber bands and since I was the only one with a re-entry pass and Trisha couldn't leave us out there, I literally ran back to the booth, which was up hill, to get them. Heard all of one song as I was walking by MSI. Made it back and was starting to get dizzy. Keep in mind, this is like, 3 pm, its hot and sunny and the buses are always running so there is air conditioning and power. It took me a really long time to catch my breath again. And may I say, security fails because I walked back to the buses all on my own without being stopped.

After bundling hundreds of HIM, Serj and some rapper fliers and stickers and getting some awesome beat up Mastodon and Against Me! stickers, we took some stuff to Chris's? car. On the way back, this gray car pulls up and Worm is driving. My brain kinda recognizes him, then out of the back seat pops Cortez and Ray Toro. Both of whom waved at Trisha. And I'm so proud of myself cause I kept my cool and everything. I was essentially working, I couldn't nerd out, I'd embarass not only myself but Trisha, who I really like. Once out of hearing distance, I mumbled to the other girl "Well that was incredibly surreal" and we both laughed.

Then we went on the bus while Trisha got some stuff. Had some water (thank God) and met MCR's pyro guy. He is such a pot head, but super funny.

Apparently Linkin Park wasn't touring on a bus, there would be one there for them to hang out on, but they flew to each venue. Which makes sense, but at the same time is kinda not cool.

After this, we walked back to the booth, I was really slow because I was getting dehydrated, which didn't occur to me until I was back in away from the buses. In talking to Trisha, I was offered huge ass Used posters and some slightly damaged but signed MCR posters. Which I totally forgot to take her up on. I fail.

Back in the booth, there were too many people for me to really do anything so I sat on the cooler and was ordered to drink water by Laura, the other chick from the label who was also awesome. Decided to bail and find my sister on the hill.

Whilst basking in the umbrella provided shade, who should I see but Adam Lazzara walking up the hill, casual as can be, in his horrible plaid. I laughed semi-hysterically at how adorable he was, then laid back down. At some point I went back out to the car and met up with Brooke and Tina, and foolishly turned down brownies because I was feeling so shitty.

The openers kinda blend together, I got food and drink at some point. TBS was still pretty rad. I know I wrote down MCR's set on my arm, but I don't know where I copied it to. This, is bad. Whatever, the list I found from Camden is the same, double checked with the Myspace Stream. Which was hilarious to watch because they had a camera pit in the center of the lawn and when it would pan, people would cheer.

Detroit Set List:
This is How I Disappear
The Sharpest Lives
I’m Not Okay
House of Wolves
Famous Last Words
Give ‘Em Hell Kid
Dead!
Welcome To The Black Parade
Mama
Teenagers
Helena
Cancer

During Sharpest (I think?) was the epic Frank v. Gerard lover's spat that was both hilarious and kinda sad. Very strange. But I'm so glad I was there to see it. And it was recorded forever by Myspaz.

Right before LP came on, these drunk assholes passed between me and Mer, right over our massive pile of stuff. I stopped the second group, getting up in their faces, and they wouldn't back off. So Mer stepped in. We pissed them off, they went around us, and spent the first 20 minutes of the set screaming at us and pushing people down the hill and flicking us off. KTB said we were awesome XD.

LP was cool, after they were done we all left, Becca was in my car, and I got totally lost trying to find the diner. I don't know what happened, but all three of us swear there was a gap of road we don't remember crossing before we doubled back. KTB and Tiffa left right after we got there, we discussed Tiffa drama llama and had pancakes.

The next morning, Mer and I got up and drove to Ypsi, harassed Kristin who gave me Cheesecake and Gummi Bears for my birthday (:DDDDD) and then we crashed for a few hours. But that will all be discussed when I post my Rise Against review. In like another 3 months.
