[Waverly's Poly app]

Name/Nick; Salix (I think that's what I'm under)
LJ name: bluegrave
Other characters played [ Eliza Faust :: Shaman King :: belovedeath]:
E-mail: Druerylane@gmail.com
AIM/messenger: Druerylane

Character: Waverly Raine

Abilities:
In Ingenting Waverly is known as 'The Light'. She is that which melts the snow.

The abilities include:
She can call any object so long as it is something that can be held.
She can also learn abilities from others.

Waverly herself has no knowledge of these abilities, or the given name. There has not been an instance of her using any of this. Neither her father nor any of her known family knows anything about this either. However one can sense something strange about her.

Flaws/weaknesses:
She's the sort of person who is easily hurt. Like a doll, she can be easily broken when betrayed, and it's hard for her to recover. What she wants most in life is to be able to choose and to trust those around her. She wants desperately to be able to believe in something; anything will do.

She's also quite naive. She trusts easily, and when she does she trusts completely. She wants to believe that everyone is good, or at least has the potential to be. She'll believe almost anything that anyone says; even if it's a lie. If she doesn't trust someone she has befriended, then she feels that she is being disloyal to them; so no matter what happens or what they do she will always fight for or with them.

What she lacks most is confidence in herself. She's tried several times to blaze her own path, only to be pulled back again by her father, and now Lucifer. She's, so many times, been pushed and prodded into whatever someone else wants her to be that she has a hard time simply being herself. She also tends to get herself into trouble, quite often in fact.

She also has a nasty temper when provoked. She'll slap, kick or even punch if you're doing something she feels is stupid. If she wants you to know she's angry, you'll know. Even though she's malleable and easily taken in, if she knows you're doing something wrong, she'll let you know and try to encourage you to change it.

Waverly takes things very strongly to heart. She will dwell on wrongs that were done to her as if they are her fault, but she won't let anyone know. She still loves her father, despite what he has done to her and wishes she had been able to make him happy, at least once. this is her greatest regret in fact. That her father finds her a failure in his eyes.

History/background:
Waverly was born the only daughter to a father with what is termed 'old money'. Their family had lived in the same area for generations and they were well known in the community and social circles. She never knew her mother, but her father told her that she had died shortly after Waverly was born. Her father's only wish for her was to marry a man with status and money in order to keep their status going and so that he had someone who he could entrust his legacy to. Her own thoughts on the matter were quite different. Waverly wanted to paint.

She was discouraged at every angle. Sent to the best boarding and finishing schools, taught the basics of society; and kept too busy to do or think of anything but her lessons. She refused to let this stop her. Every chance she had she would sketch, draw, do whatever she could to hone her gift. She became quite good in fact.

When she was old enough to go into college, her father decided she would attend an ivy league school and major in law, thus she could be useful within the family. She, however, had other plans. She applied at an art school without telling anyone. On her own merits she was accepted and started attending without telling anyone. When her father discovered this he gave her an ultimatum. Either she leave the school and follow what he wanted, or he would cut her out of the family completely. Sticking to her beliefs, though also feeling as if she had let everyone down, she was cut off.

The stress of her schooling coupled with the actions and words of her father, both now and in the past, broke her. She begged for everything to just stop, and the only way she knew how was death. With a gun she had been bought 'for protection in the city' she promised herself she would finally make everything stop, leaving the splattered remains of her life on the canvas she was going to use for her final project. She thought it poetic.

When the time came to kill herself, she couldn't do it, and ended up making a deal with a man who called himself Lucifer and claimed to be the devil. He would take her away from the life she had, but the price was that she could never return; no matter how much she may later wish to. Accepting, she was thrown into a world where the buildings seemed to twist, the city was gray and colorless, and the residents were unlike anything she had ever seen.

Introduced to a young girl named Mallory Vayle she was taken to a small club known as 'The underworld'. There she would learn to serve drinks for the patrons, cook, clean and tend bar; as well as do odd random jobs for Lucifer. With no alternative and nowhere else to go, she was forced to do whatever Lucifer requested of her, no questions asked.

Mallory, as it turned out was actually an orphaned fire elemental that Lucifer had picked up on a whim. She had lost everything when the only person she knew, a boy named Kace, had disappeared without a trace. Waverly offered to help the girl find him, but there was little hope.

[This is where she is being taken from in the story]

Personality:
Name: Waverly Raine
Age: 25
Birth date: August 12, 1981
Zodiac: Leo/Rooster
Colors: Orange and gold
Talent: Painting

Waverly is a kind girl. She wants to help others in any way that she can. This can even extend to her risking her own life in order to help them. She refuses to believe that anything is impossible; though it can be pretty hard to achieve. This tenacity has caused her both good and bad situations to happen in the past. It's this stubbornness that caused her to become disowned and pushed her to the point where the only way out that she could find was suicide.

She's actually a very hopeful person. For everything she's been through and her general state of depression in the beginning of the story, she can seem like one of he most cheerful people you'll meet. She hides her emotions well. There are, in fact, only a few people who she will allow to see her in emotional pain. Those she loves, and those she trusts completely. She's well aware when people don't like who she is, so she'll hide herself to make them happy. One of the people who abuse this ability of hers is her father. He actually hates the willful woman that she is and prefers her to be docile and to do exactly as he says. He wants her to be akin to a doll that he can buy and sell to others in order to gain something. Otherwise she's not worth anything to him. All she really wants in life is to be allowed to paint, and for those around her to be content with life. She'll do anything but sacrifice her beliefs for that. She actually has on many occasions given up parts of herself to appease her father. Countless blind dates with sons of firms that her father wanted to 'feel out', playing the demure daughter and hating every minute of it. She has been pawed at and harassed for years from men that were supposed to be 'good an gentle boys. She has very little faith that men are good people, but she's willing to try. It's her desire to see the good in everyone that keeps her from becoming a cynical old woman.

Her nature is laid back, but at the same time she worries about everything. Everything except herself that is. She a quirky sort of girl, making jokes at what would seem completely inappropriate times to try and set others at ease. Quiet and a bit snarkey you can certainly see the products of her self upbringing in her speech and actions. When her own words fail her, or when they say things better then she can, she'll resort to quoting the things that she has read. She's read a lot. Hiding in the back of bookstores so she can read the things that her father won't let her read at home and having a locked case under her bed hiding many things that she wasn't allowed to have. Even with her general soft spoken nature she's more then willing to yell at others, even slap them when angered.

Background setting: [the setting your character came from before PC]
Originally Waverly was from Jamestown, Rhode Island. Her father's family had lived there for generations, and were well known in the community. Very few people there really knew her. When she was old enough to go, after taking a year off to “explore” (really she was trying to get better at painting) she applied and was accepted to New York University, Steinhardt School. Though her father was under the impression she was attending Brown University for law. In her final semester her father learned of her attendance there and threatened to remove her from the family if she didn't drop out immediately and do as he had wanted her to in the first place. He told her that he would lose nothing by doing so; that she was expendable and simply a means to an end to him.

Refusing to bend to his wishes, She was immediately cut off from her family. She has not seen or heard from her father since.

After a failed attempt at suicide she was taken to the world Ingenting by a man claiming that he was the devil. Ingenting is a world of solely magical and mythical beings. Much like Earth it has developed over time to become a large grouping of modern cities. She was taken in, reluctantly, by a young girl named Mallory Vayle, a fire elemental who was abandoned as a child and has been staying with Lucifer ever since. Since then she has been working in the night club 'The Underworld' as a server, cook and bartender. She also, when told to, will do odd jobs for Lucifer. She isn't allowed to ask questions about them however and they can be very dangerous.

Physical description:
[ User pictures for reference]
Waverly stands about five foot, nine inches tall. She's actually quite tall for her family, and her genetic structure comes predominantly from her father's side of the family.

Her hair, a red-auburn falls to the center of her back and carries a slight wave to it naturally, bangs cut in a straight sweep and pushed to the side. When painting, her hair is pulled back in a messy bun or ponytail, other times she simply lets it fall. It's rare for the girl to actually do anything with her hair. She prefers to work with other matters instead.

In 'The Underworld' however, it is a requirement that all who work there must wear Victorian style attire. This includes hair upswept in the manner of the time. This is the only clothing Waverly now owns, and even that isn't hers.

Short nails fall on the end of long piano-like fingers, her frame is slim with only a slight curve. She has an average chest, about a C, long legs and arms. Eyes a moss green. Her face is slim, square shaped; with what is termed a Roman nose. Lips and mouth small with high, prominent cheek bones.

Waverly's posture is actually quite straight; years of being groomed for society caused her to be able to carry herself well. Her manner of dress, when she was able to choose for herself is quite casual. Jeans and t-shirts, with the occasional simple dress thrown in for nicer occasions. Most of the time however her hands, clothing, and occasionally face are covered in paint.

She wears a leather band around her left wrist. The band hides where a vampire who, angry that she didn't have the type of blood he wanted, tried to bite her. One fang managed to penetrate her wrist, but it was pulled out by Lucifer before they could drink. The wound never fully healed.

Sample RP:
Standing in the back room of the club, Waverly stared into the freezer. They needed more livers thawed for tonight. There was a small group of werewolves who were comings for a reunion and she wasn't sure that they had enough.

She really hated going to the meat market. They always asked her if they could have her spare parts. She didn't have any spare parts. Everything that was in her body needed to stay there, thank you very much. 'Never really thought I'd be grocery shopping for things I thought were fake.' She mused lightly as she pulled out about a dozen frozen livers. She had to wonder how they got things like livers and blood and the like. If Lucifer could go back and forth, did that mean others could too? It was a freighting thought. “Maybe bigfoot really does exist.” She mused, mumbling to herself really. Mallory had gone off somewhere; Waverly still had the distinct impression the kid didn't like her.

Then again, Mallory may not have been a kid after all. She was an elemental, weird, but true. She could be over a hundred years old. “Or is that still a kid in elemental years?” She paused to ask herself. She really had no answer.

Hefting the meat into her arms she headed out of the back room and into ... a fountain?

She looked down, frowning. “That's defiantly a fountain.” She decided, lifting one wet leg and then the other. Stepping out of the water she sat a moment; placing the livers next to her. “Way to make me wolf bait dumbass.” She was pretty sure Lucifer couldn't hear her, but she glanced around just in case. Besides, that could have been exactly the plan. It wasn't like he didn't think she was completely expendable. Everyone seemed to think that it seemed.

The buildings here were straight and not gnarled. They seemed like real buildings, not fabricated metal trees. This defiantly wasn't the city she knew. Looking beside her she saw a small device. It looked a bit weird, but then again everything here was weird. Picking it up she turned it on, finding a small button to press on the side. “... A walkie talkie? Ok, that's just lame.” It made her feel like one of those twelve year olds who built tree forts in their yard and ran around the neighborhood with these things screaming 'Roger, where are you at? Over'. Pushing the button she began to speak into it. “Hey, Lucifer, where the hell am I and what do you want me to do?” ....

Sample post:
[Voice post]

[There's a bit of crackling as the device turns itself on. The voice is loud and distinctly female]

Hey, Lucifer, where the hell am I and what do you want me to do?

[There's a pause in the speaking and the sound of clicking heels against the ground.]

I've got a dozen thawing livers here; I really need you to hurry up. If they spoil ... yeah, I don't want to be the main course ... again.

[A loud screeching noise is heard before the thing shuts off entirely.]
