An unwelcomed end

My grandmother Vivienne died last Friday; succumbing to a weakening body, and a failing heart. She was 86, but it was extraordinary that she had lived this long. For half of my life, she was plagued with health problems that pushed her so near the edge, I lost count of the times that I rushed to a hospital to see her, fearing that it would be the ( Read more... )

I'm very sorry to hear of your family's loss.

I know everyone wants to take care of your grandfather - and they should! - but don't forget to take care of you.

Thanks. I feel like I'll get to thinking about myself a bit more when I get back to Toronto - a trip like this is unreal enough to delay that kind of insight till I get home.

I'm very sorry too. I hope your grandfather finds a way to move forward. It sounds like he has lots of support from family, which makes him luckier than many in that situation. And like SFC said, take care of yourself too.

Thank you. I'm hoping he does too. I think it's still working its way through his head how easy it is to be not busy any more, when he had a 16 hour a day job previously. The family is slowly pulling back from the intensity, so I'm hoping he can transition into life on his own without finding it too empty.

Thank you - I'm going to work on that. We've got a family member calling him every day, so I think he's going to feel supported (if not harassed).
