i found this pamphlet at work that was all about civil suits (especially in cases where the criminal process doesn't help the victim, and they list assault & battery cases as one of the more common ones)

I kinda need the one I found but maybe I'll make a copy of it for you or write down the website information. It had a lot of good stuff on it. You need to contact a lawyer or something and make sure the statute of limitations isn't up on that.
