Yes, everyone should have the right to a secret ballot. I, however, am waving my right for the sake of this discussion regarding political parties. I feel, that in my case, my beliefs and knowledge will be challenged, tested and improved through such discussion. Don't you think it's your responsibility as a citizen to do what you can to steer this country in the right direction? I'll admit that a lot of people out there probably aren't worth talking to about politics. Still, a combination of research and debate (with people who are willing to make logical arguments grounded on fact) is a great way to enhance your understanding of political issues, enabling you to make the best possible choice on election day.

Mud slinging is indeed depressing. But you mustn't let it deter you from your civic duty! I firmly believe that if more people took the time to really understand the issues and make their voices heard, this country would be a much better place. Too often, though, those whose voices are heard don't really understand the issues, so it is all the more pressing for each and every one of us to rise above the mud slinging and bring the voice of reason into the national conversation.
