(In which Optimus Prime is pleased.)
“What did you just say?” Optimus Prime stared at his Head of Special Operations in disbelief.
“Starscream and all his pretty birds have flown th’ coop.” Jazz dutifully repeated himself, sporting a wide grin. “That’s why th’ Cons’ve been fallin’ back so often. Good ol’ Screamer took off with almost half a Megs army.”
“I take it Megatron is displeased?” Optimus questioned, sitting back in his seat with a considering expression when Jazz nodded. “Well that certainly explains his temperament in the battle last megacycle.”
“Yep.” Jazz chuckled, his Polyhex accent growing thicker in a sign of his excitement. “The Seekers’ve been missin’ fer ‘bout five, six megacycles now, an’ th’ Cons can’t find so much as a wingtip from any of ‘em. Megs is close ta loosin’ it, an’ accordin’ t’ one a m’inside mechs, Soundwave went missin’ ‘bout thirty cycles ago. Sent a message sayin’ he had a lead on th’ Seekers, an’ then poof! One vanished telepath.”
“Oh dear. It sounds like he may have found what he was looking for, and it turned out to be more than he could handle.” Optimus looked thoughtful, raising his gaze to the ceiling. “What are the chances that this is a trick?”
“Doubt it.” Jazz shook his head. “Th’ Cons’ve lost too much ground, even fer a feint. ‘Cording t’ Prowler, if thing’s keep going’ as they are an’ we’ll have half th’ planet back before three megacycles’re up. We’ve got too much territory now fer them t' pull a pincer move. Plus, Mega ain’t much’ve an actor an’ Screamer ain’t got this much patience.”
“So what you’re telling me is that Megatron can no longer count on the Seekers air support and that his telepath has gone missing?” Optimus looked like the human phrase ‘Christmas had come early’. Without Soundwave blocking communications, battlefield organization would be much easier, meaning better reaction time to surprise attacks and strategy changes. Without the Seekers raining fire from above, the Autobots could meet the Decepticons on even ground for the first time ever. The Autobots would no longer have to scramble to simply hold the line. As long as Starscream and his Seekers were kept away from Megatron, the Autobot’s chances of being able to win went up by a large margin.
“Yep.” Jazz handed over the written report of recent activities and findings from the Ops division. “Looks like somebody down there likes ya, boss mech.”
“Perhaps.” There was a pleased gleam in the Prime’s optics as he took the datapad from Jazz’s hands. “But still… see if you can find out where the Seekers have gotten to. I don’t want Megatron to have the chance to get them back.”
“Can do. Trackin’ Soundwave’s last known position is probably our best bet.” Jazz mused out loud. “It’s as good a lead as any.”
“Be careful though please, Jazz.” Optimus looked up from the report. “We can’t afford to have you go missing as well.”
“You got it, Prime.” Jazz tipped off a quick, distracted salute and left to tell his team about their new mission focus, mind turning over recent information in search of hints and clues that would lead to the goal.
Optimus remained in his office, fighting back excitement. The Seekers had left Megatron of their own will. It had been so long since he had made his impulsive promise that the Prime had almost completely given up hope of ever being able to fulfill his vow. Now it looked like the chance he had been waiting for had finally arrived. Prime could only pray that things were what they appeared, that this was not a trick. All Prime had to do was find out where the Seekers had flown to… and pray that they could find it within themselves to trust him after all that both Megatron and the Senate had put their people through.

Why is it, that even though Jazz's accent is thicker than Ironhide's, it's still easier to write? Probably has something to do with how Jazz just drops constanants while Ironhide extends vowels. Blarg.
Anyway, incase y'all were wondering why I've been posting like a mad thing recently (I don't mean to spam, really I don't) I start my Creative Writing course first week of May. Seeing as I'm taking six classes, I probably won't be able to post fanfic with as much frequency as I currently enjoy. Plus, I felt kinda bad about going a month and more without posting anything. XD
Here there be dragons! So all of the Dragon Cave fansites I used have gone down permanently. Anyone got a good site to rec me? XP
