S and her parents had been saying for some weeks that they wanted the kids to come the day after school ended, which was Tuesday. Of course this kept shifting and threatening not to happen, but in the meantime I decided E and I should take the opportunity for a mini-honeymoon (minimoon) if it did. Yay! Indeed. Glad to hear you are having a good time.

I would do whatever was necessary to break into the adjacent abandoned resort and do some urban spelunking.

Been thinking a lot about the death of the post world war two American social contract. The fact that we can no longer imagine anything to do with one another other than exploitation. The Catskills-in-my-mind are a place free of that sort of exploitation, a retreat, a resort. Now all we can imagine is buses full of dipshits ready to throw their pensions and Social Security checks into a vat for immediate export.

I did not feel like chancing whatever Casino Police were lurking, but I added another post with at least a few external photos. There are tons of photos of abandoned resorts on the Internet so I didn't feel breaking and entering was worthwhile...

I agree with you about the social contract. I think about this, and the loss of the sense of place we had growing up, quite a bit.
