For our 10th anniversary E got me a video game player with Pac-Man and a bunch of other games. The Novel in My Head is going to be about the development of the
self, the effects of Trump, covid, the political and the personal,
transness, Jewishness, intellectualism, artistic pretension, and life
past the internet. And that's just page 1. It all turns to sand when I
try to write it down.
I would read that, for whatever it's worth.
A year ago I got up a head of steam to write something political, and
I was enjoying it until I realized it would upset people who I
otherwise like, and thus there really was no point in doing it.
That's what pseudonyms are for, I guess!

It wasn't so much that I was afraid of them being mad at me. It was more like... I am on Team Blue. And what I had to say was criticizing a certain tendency of our side. Does the world need one more person to scold progressives? No. There are lots of people who do that for a living and actually they annoy me because in the larger scheme of things it doesn't matter. These are all arguments we can carry on in the gulag.
I appreciate you saying you'd read it. I don't know that it would actually be interesting to anyone, certainly not at first. I think the point is that I have to just write and write and write until I feel like I know what I am doing with it.
