I'm so sick of this constant battle... Why does every happy event, every holiday, every family event have to be overshadowed by tones of disdain, awkwardness, and homophobia? I'm with someone who I love more than anything, but our love is regarded with confusion and fear. We just got engaged, but no one wants to here about it

I think you are beautiful. You are real with how you feel and who you are. You have an amazing fiance and your future with her is something to get excited about. I know I'm excited that you've found someone that makes you as happy as you are. :)

You are with the woman you love - I know it's exhausting to feel as though you must defend that every moment, especially to have to defend that from your very family. It is exhausting to have to be strong, to stand up for what you believe in, to persue the life you deserve.

But I know that doesn't mean your going to stop trying. You and Elisha are together, and perhaps time will heal things with the extended families. But the fact is, no matter what anyone else ends up thinking, you're not marrying THEM. And you still have many others who will always love and support you.
