I think you've hit the nail on the head as far as Carson's situation for me. Aside from the Michael arc (which I really like despite the terrible moral predicatment), he doesn't drive the plot; he provides a sweetness and some comic relief and another sparring partner for McKay. He therefore, to me, is a favorite background character. Perhaps moving him to 'full-time' status rather than keeping him recurring was a misstep on TPTB's part ( ... )

I've quit trying to guess what TPTB are doing! ha! But I do think like you that I'll wait and see what happens. I'm not really that emotionally involved either despite my long winded post. I think I'm more curious as to what the heck is going on at Skiffy than anything else. I fully believe there is a story behind the story.

Curiouser and curiouser...

You know, there's rumored to be a shake up with BSG, too, and if that's the case I'm inclined to think it's maybe a network thing as well.

I can't help but be heartened by JF's comments that S4 will be moving into some 'darker' episodes.

Oh, the carnage at BSG is getting worse and worse. It's rumored that they are killing Starbuck very soon and they've moved the show to Sunday night to help bolster ratings that are at this point far below SGA's and even SG1's.

If you think the fallout over the Weir and Carson situation is bad, wait to see if Starbuck is really dead my friend and you'll see fallout. It will most likely kill the show completely. Now if the spoilers are true that the fleet only thinks she dead and the audience only finds out at the last moment of season 3, you may have the same situation. Spoiler ignorant viewers won't know that she's not really gone and won't be tuning in after her supposed death. It has all the markings of a ratings blood bath. So yeah, do I think there are some strange goings on at Skffy? Damn straight.
