We are all of us haunted and haunting; more lame crap, longer this time
note: colors, words, a trip to the grocery store; a spark and sometimes I catch the bits and pieces of a story. this is the first of at least two quick oneshots named after the fact for old prompts at 31_days. the only other places you should see this story posted at is on my tumblr ( Read more... )

(and just out of curiosity, since I wrote this to be interpretable in two ways, how did you make sense of the story?)

Jongyu lives together and Jonghyun always tried to be closer to jinki (they r boyfriends i guess?) but jinki never let Jonghyun to be close to him. Until finally Jonghyun decided to give up and moved out. He kinda hoped for Jinki to stop him but he didnt. And i have a feeling that Jinki is actually still want to be with jonghyun but he also didnt let himself to? So both of them give up. That's what i get from the story >< .

yup, that's pretty much one variation of the the story. thank you for indulging my curiosity! :'D (oh I'm CURIOUS yeah~~~) hopefully a few more readers will also drop me a comment and I can ask them too, to find out if anyone reads it in the alternative way.

in the mean time... /waiting for Onew's teasers

OMG!!
What actually happen w/ jongyu??
Is Jonghyun just simply break up and move out??
Or..Is Jinki dead??????????? That Jonghyun have a hard way to move on?????

xD;

I wrote the story so it can be read both ways. It can be seen as their relationship finally breaking down and Jonghyun moves forward and out, or it can be seen as Jinki having passed away and Jonghyun lives out one last "dialogue" with the Jinki of his memories.

There are clues that support both interpretations. Neither one is particularly correct or incorrect. :P

I saw the first comment, and I feel like I may have interpreted it in totally the wrong way. OTL /is good at doing that.

Like. I got the vibe that like. They lived together and all. But it just. Seemed like Jinki was dead. And Jonghyun was picking up his things from the empty apartment, but got stuck in a daydream/memory/delusion and that's why Kibum seemed so upset that he'd gone by himself, and why Jjong was going to cry. Would also explain why Jinki didn't actually walk him out, and why Kibum saw no one in the empty apartment.

And it just seems like it'd be that too, because the whole way through I got the vibe that Jonghyun was remembering everything, and things only started actually 'happening' when Kibum entered the picture. Like Jinki's entire scene wasn't...'real.'

If that makes sense. I probably got it all wrong. OTL

But I liked it a lot, and it made me want to cry ;~; <3

Then you probably also saw my reply saying that the story can be read two ways! And congratulations (? lol), your interpretation is indeed the alternative that I had in mind. :'D I like how you put it, about the vibe that Jonghyun was constructing a delusion from his memories and that Kibum brings in the contrast of reality. ;A;

Can I hug you? LOL

And to answer, yes x4 for the clues that you picked up on. Also if you notice, Jonghyun never touches Jinki, Jinki jerks back but doesn't actually knock his chair into the wall, Jinki doesn't drink the tea, and Jonghyun is the one who washes out both mugs and the teapot...even though by now it's Jinki's home and he's just a guest. Also Taemin almost freaking out-being stood up by your friend and not getting your calls returned normally does not warrant an immediate freak out.

Anyways, thank you and I'm glad you enjoyed the read! ♥

I did, but I was still worried I got it wrong, because every time I speculate I am dead wrong it seems LOL OTL

Of course. I like hugs. ;A; <3
And your writing too. /shamelessly stalking your whole journal. OTL

I noticed all of those as well too, just forgot to comment on them. XD OTL

Also, I want to ask. Was whateverkilledJinki/brokethemup Jjong's fault? Because he apologized, and seemed so upset over it.

And...they were married, weren't they? With Jjong reaching for Jinki's left hand, and the part where he put his head in his hands, and the ring was mentioned and.

thank you, and...belated tissues? :'D
and if you read the story as them breaking up, then nobody dies. ;A;
(btw, at what point did you think that he died?)

Umm, they breaking up is not good either /poutshard

I guess when Jjong abruptly stopped his sentence there is no -- and then Kibum entered the scene? So basically Kibum didn't feel any of Jinki presence while Jjong thought Jinki's hiding. Why would Jinki hide I thought. So it's only in Jjong's mind.

Idk, I didn't see it as breaking up fic, maybe I tend to like if it;s sad I want it as sad as possible, or happy as happy as possible. Haha.

xD;;;

I think this transition is probably the key point, when Kibum enters the picture and Jinki goes away, because then you get a contrast between the two. It's interesting that of the four commenters so far, one person saw only the breakup, one person is confused between the two, and two of you saw only the ghostly version. But definitely, the mindset the reader matters in the interpretation.

(Jinki would potentially hide because it'd be awkward to meet his ex's new boyfriend, especially given the sort of character that he is in this story. ...but again, it's one of those "is this a drawing of a young woman or an old lady" type of thing.)

he is potentially real and he is potentially dead.
did you think he's real or did you think he's dead?
(there is no continuation though.)

and no that's not true. I wrote a crack!jongyu that is full of them being silly!

you are special! you saw a version three that I didn't even know existed. xD; (although I guess it could count as a Bell's Variation on the alive!jinki but broken!jongyu interpretation, haha.) but this - jonghyun's really attached to jinki because he's a constant in his life (like, literally, since he barely changes) and maybe he spent a really long time imagining their future together - very, very much so, regardless of the interpretation. he cares and he loves and he tries, really tries; guess that's why I'm quite fond of the him in this story.
