Oh, is this a gem! So many good lines, but I think I liked this exchange the best:
Putting the couch aside, they would have comfortably fit on the king size bed that Tezuka really should have expected but stared at indignantly nonetheless. One person could not feel comfortable in such a bed - it would be large and empty.
Atobe had never said anything about his comfort. "You're lonely," Tezuka said with certainty in his voice. That was why he had raced to the airport, that was why they went to the obnoxious hang-out, that was why Atobe was so willingly opening his doors to Tezuka for a place to stay.
"Aren't you?"
I like how you draw them; the glimpse into Tezuka's family, a look at an Atobe that is a plausible flowering of the the younger Atobe we know from canon. Very nice work!
This was amazing. The way you interwove what happened with the after-effects and Tezuka's pseudo-confession and all of it was a really nice touch. It had some great lines in it as well, though I think this was my favourite:
What he saw in Atobe's eyes was old - like the spine of a book that has been broken after it has been loved almost to the point of its destruction. When that book was first printed was what Tezuka did not know, but the picture in the hallway stuck in his mind.
Great job! I've always wanted to read something soft with this pairing and you've definitely filled that niche. :)
Nice to find someone write this pairing ^_^ I love the whole thing involved around Tezuka family, Atobe and driving (I believe if he drove like that, lol~). oh yeah, Atobe ate French fries with knife and fork (while others ate with hand) made me smile, it's a nice touch! XD Also, good alternating / changing between the flashback and present. Very enjoyable, Anon-san. ♥
First, I'm really sorry that I didn't comment the day this was posted. I was totally blown away and had to think hard to come up with the appropriate way to thank you, because my first instinct was to heart-spam you, which would have been altogether very obnoxious.
This is basically a fic that had me at hello. When I saw the title, I was already smiling and anticipating something brilliant, which was totally what I got. And then there was the comparison between Atobe and Tezuka's family, which was thorough and thoughtful and exactly the way I see it. In general, I appreciated greatly how much you involved the boys' families, so props to you for that. <3
"You're speeding," Tezuka pointed out calmly, though his hands gripped at the door until his knuckles were white.
I ADORED this scene. In my head, I could almost see Atobe driving like a teenager and Tezuka being all disapproving and about it. The dialogue was so realistic and the characterisation rich throughout that I was absolutely squealing with delight. :D
