Review: CoreyBlaze Originals [Part 1]

[ I'll be doing these in Alphabetical order, except for the ones at the start, the reason for which will be apparent soon enough. ]

traces -tracing you mix-
This was the first simfile of yours I ever downloaded, back when you were still going by CandyBoy (same as the next three files below). The first time I heard the song I thought it would be great for steps, so I went on Bemanistyle and searched the song to see what kind of sims for it were out there. I downloaded all the ones I found and this one was by far my favorite of the bunch. Keep in mind that I was considering making a simfile for this song at the time - this was not long after I started making simfiles. After I played this one, I didn't bother. I thought yours was perfect and if I had done this song it would have come out quite similar to yours. The only thing I might have done differently was leave out the slowdown (as in not have it slowdown, not actually leave it out). This song convinced me to seek out more of your simfiles and still probably ranks in my personal Top 20 as far as favorite simfiles ever. My rating: 9.5/10.

abyss -the heavens remix-
The second of your sims I played. This is one of my favorite songs and I had high expectations for this. I ended up being slightly disappointed, but I pretty much blame myself for that, for comparing it to other simfiles for the song. Taken on its own, however (as all simfiles should be taken), it's quite good. Not too complex, but still enough to be enjoyable. I personally would have preferred some more complex crossovers, but for what I believe you were trying to do with the song, I think you got it right. 8.5/10

Daisuke
I downloaded this one both because I wanted to hear the song and because you made steps for this. I was quite pleased with this one. It could have been maybe a bit harder (16ths please), but the overall patterns I feel fit the song very well. 9/10

Doo-Be-Di-Boy (KCP Mix)
I've long had a complex relationship with this song. I wasn't a big fan of the original song at all, but then I heard this remix and it's so fun and upbeat that I can't help but enjoy it. The step patterns are perfect for the song, and the combo-breaker ( :( ) BPM stops fit right in. But you lose half a point because I can't combo the song. Haha, just kidding. I can't think of anything that could be improved with this one. 10/10

Okay, now the stuff that's new to me.

2 Become 1
A Wildside cover of a Spice Girls song. Only thing I didn't like about this one was I think the song could have used a fade-out at the end. It feels a bit awkward to still hear the song at pretty much full volume when the steps are obviously over. Still well done though. 9/10

Algo Esta Cambiando
Only thing I would have changed were I to do this song would be to do the stepchart as twice the BPM of the song. In spite of the slowness, the song feels pretty cheerful (although as a non-Spanish speaker I have no idea what she's saying; she could be mourning the death of her beloved dog for all I know =P). That's just a personal preference. Excellent job. 10/10

Amazing Kiss
Pretty difficult for a 7 because the BPM is pretty slow. Still pretty good. 8/10, only because I'm not really feeling this song.

Antho
I really like the song. The steps are interesting and flow very well. The ending feels a bit awkward, but that's it. 9/10

Back Into The Light
I'm a pretty big Fujimori fan, and I had high hopes for this, and I wasn't disappointed. I think you could have connected some of the streams together in the end of the song, but other than that it's wonderful. 9.5/10

Battle Without Honor Or Humanity
Excellent stepchart. Only thing I disagree with is the rating. I think it should be an 8. There's a lot of step-jumps and it's pretty chaotic all around. 9/10

To be continued...
