my area is extremely flooded, so school was cancelled, and all day i was glued to the tv watching cnn and seeing the death and injured count rise for the victims at virginia tech. i have way too many people on my friends list to remember where everyone is from, and i haven't spoken to some of you personally at that, but i really hope you are all

i think that's a common reaction... you hear about violence so often that you get a bit numb to it.

they're directing people past my house because a main route nearby is flooded, and all the cars are driving me fucking mad. god, how dare they use a public road and disturb my sleeping in. i'd prefer they take their chances with the overflowing river.

i didn't even hear about it until now. jordan's friend brittany goes to virginia tech, but i haven't heard back from him yet if she's okay or not. i think she is, but i wonder if anyone close to her was hurt. i can't believe they didn't tell anyone about it right after the first shooting!

it sounds weird- like, the guy shot the people in the dorm, and there's a rumor that they were his girlfriend and her lover that he discovered in bed. then he disappeared, and so the cops assumed he fled the scene and that's why they didn't conduct a lock down, plus they were also interrogating a suspect just as the second shootings occurred. on the news they keep emphasizing that the first morning classes were about to begin in less than an hour, so it was impossible to warn everyone in time except to keep them confined once they were all in their classes, but someone on ontd said that they are exaggerating that the school is a commuter one, and that they should have done something else as it's so rural that the next hospital is about 30 miles away, it's isolated, and the first email wasn't sent out til just as the next shootings occurred
