though, you've hit the nail on the head as to why i don't do mushrooms, because hello! fungus. i don't eat fungus. don't talk to me about cheeses. i'm "lalallalaing" on that one.
but, I mean, it's just your house, so what if some weird household fungus or outdoor variety comes in and mutates your shiitakes or whatever? I mean, I'm not a mushroom grower, how would I know?? that's what I mean.
i used to see shiitake mushroom logs at the super-crunchy eugene, oregon, saturday market all the time. i always thought, yeah, cool, but not, somehow, something i want to grow or eat or partake of or whatever.
i'm getting a big kick, tho', out of the fact that now it's semi-swanky redenvelope.com who's marketing these mushroom logs. is that a step up from the eugene saturday market? or a step down? i can promise you this. they weren't $38 at the saturday market!
