I've heard that...sometimes people remember. At least...there were a couple of people who remembered in their dreams. If you can remember in your dreams...then surely...there has to be a way.

People don't see dreams as being real, do they? They're only images created by the mind.

I wouldn't know they were real.

But...if you can remember even on a subconscious level...that still means the memories are somewhere within you.

It's possible that...you could maybe...still remember them on your own, even outside of dreams...

How could I bring them to the surface, then? As long as they're not real to me when I'm awake, it will still be like they're forgotten.

In Russian, we say: Да́льше с глаз, бли́же к се́рдцу. I think it means the same thing- "further from the eye, closer to the heart." Is that right?

Right, that's the same meaning. I don't know why anyone would choose to be apart from someone they loved, but I know you can't always control circumstances. Being far away doesn't mean you're going to feel something less.
