Nearly time for work. I wonder how many people will comment about the ribbons entwined in my hair. They actually look quite pretty, I just regret I don't have anything better than my phone to take pictures of it. Might don the ribbons one day someone is around with a camera. Might not though as they will be stashed away for next year although they ( Read more... )

Is it wise to shoe her while she's slightly lame (assuming she is lame due to abscesses), if she's not weight bearing fully on her sore leg, you'd be best leaving her shoes until she's better, there's no rush for shoes on a horse you can't ride, I'd expect?

Just following my vet's instructions. He says she'll be more comfortable with a shoe onand her feet are badly overgrown. If she didn't have such soft feet I'd have all her shoes removed and keep her barefoot for a while but it'll just end in more abcesses

I can understand wanting to get her shod then, sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't, in the roughly 5 years we dealt with abscesses we were given conflicting advice on shoeing/not-showing. If they are lame, it's best not to do anything however, since it adds stress (and they can't stand on two legs) but at the end of the day, its worthwhile finding out what is best for her - no horse is the same. :-)

She's got her shoe on her bad leg now and is definitely sounder although not completely sound. Part of is due to her being uncomfortable on her other feetbecause of the state of them (she is desperate for shoeing). She can weight bear fine on her bad leg which is promising and it's started bursting out her leg abover the hoof. Fingers crossed!

was that pic taken with yer phone? its pretty big for a phone but has barrel distortion and way over exposed. i need to come see you with my camera, take some pics og your hair and you horse.

Yes it was taken with my phone. I have the same one as Leigh. I could really get into photography as I do enjoy taking photographs and like having a mobile camera stuffed in my pocket constantly. One day when I have some money (hah!) I want to get a little digital cameraso I can always get that special picture
