Got woke up at 9:00a.m. by the phone. SSI, CSB and other abbreviations... ;) sparkythegeek June 22 2004, 15:04:11 UTC
I wonder if there's a way to "protest" the SSI regs where it concerns marriage and support? I mean... my parents were married and Erik got SSI for a time because of the cancer and it wasn't disrupted. But I don't know much about that - might be worth looking into even more, if you haven't already.

CSB... wowzers. Good luck with all that!

To protest, I think, I would have to do a petition drive, and I don't know all that many people on SSI. I have the phone number of one of our State Representatives--to use on CSB, if necessary--and I've been thinking of getting him involved in the SSI law change. He's only State, but he can probably put me in touch with our local Congress persons... We'll see. One step at a time.... :D

A glitch? sparkythegeek June 22 2004, 15:10:22 UTC
I can't help but think that its a glitch or misinformation somehow that the SSI benefits would be lost... simply because - as you said - that makes no sense. Do you have that in writing/contract?

Nope...it's stated in one of the SSI informational pamphets....Yet, as you pointed out...some families are able to keep their SSI dispite having working income... However, I have noticed that if it is a child's SSI, they usually don't mess with it as much--they do and they don't depending...But since I am an adult and I am supported by another adult via marriage, they figure that I don't need it... To me, it's being penalyzed for being happy...and that's WRONG.
