The diagnoses (is that the plural of "diagnosis?") listed on the bottom of my chart at the doctor's office today: hypothyroidism, major depressive disorder. So yeah, the labwork came back and I've been prescribed Cytomel to treat low thyroid levels. I'm also supposed to gradually take more Effexor XR until I'm at 150mg. It's kind of refreshing to ( Read more... )

How do you feel every day or most days or weeks?
And how long have you felt like this for?

a lot of the time i just kind of feel "eh." and then there are a lot of days when i feel worse than that. sadly enough, i'd have to say i've been this way at least since i started middle school or so (i am 27 now).

I've had this feeling also from about 2005 as far as I remember.
Where I have good days, medium days, bad days, blah days, and terrrrrible days + more.

On the blah days, I don't want to talk to anyone, do anything, like everything is pointless and pick apart my life.
But I've been reading heaps on depression and bipolar lately and I show strong signs of the two.
I went to the doctors and got prescribed anti-depressants but I don't want to be taking chemicals so I've been looking around at herbal options.

So have yoy started medication?

i started taking the effexor a little while ago, but i am still not at the dose prescribed. i'm going up gradually. in 3 or 4 days i think i'll be at the 150mg. i just took my first cytomel for the thyroid today, so i don't know how that will turn out.

i used to feel like i was bipolar, but it was really pmdd (i take birth control to help with that and it's not as bad as it was before, not at all).

Hi.

Good to hear that you may be on the right track again. I hope so though. I have been wondering if i may suffer from some kind of depression. I got all the signs, but i don't want to see my doctor. i can't speak with anyone about it..

it's hard to talk to someone about being depressed. once you find a doctor you feel comfortable with it's not so bad. i went through two before i started seeing the one i see now and it's so easy to talk to her about ANYTHING. i never thought i'd be able to talk to a doctor that easily, but it is possible.

what kind of symptoms are you having?

i hope you can find someone to talk to about things. it will be worth it, when the time's right.
